I had this happen to several models. Even in latest 2.1.3. Fails on Depth Maps step during point cloud creation. Looking into the error I see the "Cameras have null Neighbours." After several days of trial and error, I believe I solved the problem and post here to save others the headache it cost me and hopefully have the Agisoft team implement a bug fix.

In summary, we process large datasets and noticed several images of poor alignment. We went through and deleted these images that were causing issues (mainly images of just water). We also deleted the points with grad filters but cant remember if we deleted images in this step so still may be a problem.

Tests that failed to resolve the problem
Quality: Low or High
Uniform sampling: Yes and No Still failed
Point spacing (m): 0.1 and 1m still failed
Disabled Depth filtering still failed
Calculate point colors: Yes and No still failed
Calculate point confidence: Yes yes and no still failed
Reuse depth maps: Yes and No still failed
Replace default point cloud: No and Yes still failed

My theory is the model still contains tie points linked to deleted or removed images despite them being removed and is why it is bring thing null Neighbour error. The reason I think this because if I look at the camera IDs the images with null neighbours are the ones I had removed.

Resetting the alignment didn't solve the issue. It is like they are lingering there. I am running test to confirm this theory by creating a new chunk without any removed images to test, instead of just deleting the problem images entirely. Here is the full log.

Question: Is there a way to clean the model to delete tie points that are no longer associated with any active images, or is a complete project restart necessary? I'm keen to resolve this bug to avoid starting projects from scratch and to help others who might face the same issue.

Working with large city maps with over 250,000,000 polygon models, and putting in trees in other software. Is it possible to assign a UV to a point class that is then assigned to the texture when a mesh with texture is generated? Cheers.

General / Multicamera alignment issues

Hi guys

We are having an issue aligning our three camera capture. We had a perfect capture, with 70% side lap of the three (incorporating the oblique angle) with 10% nadir (sidelap covered by the obliques looking over the Nadir). Really having trouble trying to get a solid align regardless of the settings I try. The runs seem to stick ok but do not align with the corresponding runs. In theory this should produce an excellent result. In practice, it doesnt.





I have attempted to run a camera calibration per camera separating the 3 cameras, however, it is still the same issue. Any ideas?

General / Automatic point classification of high noise / water

Been using photoscan since the beginning. I am looking for a way to select points in a dense cloud automatically that are low confidence, or high noise. The closest option I have is the Classify ground points function, however this is quite limited and doesnt achieve the results we need.

There has to be some kind of function that if a point between Z values breaches a certain threshold, or there are too many gaps between the points, it is selected automatically so we can review the selection and remove or add to it then classify.

Looking into building a new system, however stability with high end workstation makes me a little nervous. Last thing I want to do is bottleneck my performance by having minor conflicting hardware issues on a homebuild. I have only ever done home builds for the last 20 years and never once purchased a prebiuld system.

An important note, is that I can build a much more powerful system for a better price than buying a prebuilt HP.

The two systems I am debating between.

MOBO      - Asus Z9PE-D8 Workstation MB- Intel C602 Chipset, Dual 2011 Socket, 8x DDR3 DIMM Slots, 7 x PCI-
CPU(s)     - 2 x Intel 8-Core Xeon E5-2670 2.6GHz, 20MB Cache, 8GT/Sec, 16 Threads
MEMORY - 8 x 16GB ECC DDR3

Other components like HDD and PSU are yet to be organised, however the above would arguably be the most important fundamentals in any computer foundation.
 
HP z840 (upgraded to the same specs as the above or even 256gb RAM depending on price)

General / Best settings to remove this type of artifaction

Just having some issues regarding Warping and Artifacting when Exporting models as Orthophotos(see attached photo).
We have a 60% overlap on all the photos that are being ran through the Following Batch Process:

Align Photos
- Accuracy: High
- Pair preselection: Ground control
- Point Limit: 40000
- Constrain Features by mask: Yes
Optimise Alignment
Left on default settings
Build Dense Cloud
- Quality: High
- Depth Filtering: mild
- Reuse depth maps: No
Build Mesh
- Surface Type: Height Field
- Source Data: Sparse Cloud
- Interpolation: Enabled(default)
- Face Count Medium
- Custom Face count 200,000

15 GCP's are then added to the file and then put through another batch process with the following parameters:
Optimize Alignment
-Default settings
Build Dense Cloud
- Quality: mild
- Depth Filtering: mild
- Reuse depth maps: no
Build mesh
- Surface type: Height field
- Source data: Dense cloud
- Interpolation: Enabled
- Face count: medium
- Custom Face count: 4,000,000
 
Once it was exported as a Geotiff it left us with the results in the Top half of the attached photo.
The Bottom Half was rendered with much lower settings and resulted in a significant decrease in the amount of artifacting taking place on the final image.
The Setting for the Process on the bottom half were:
Align Photos
- Accuracy: Low
- Pair Preselection: Ground Control
- Point Limit: 10,000
- Constrain Features by mask: Yes
Optimize Alignment
- Default
Build Mesh
- Surface Type: Height Field
- Source Data: Sparse Cloud
- Interpolation: Enabled(default)
- Face Count Medium
- Custom Face count 200,000

These Parameters resulted with very limited artifacting, but the warping in the photo increased significantly.
We were wondering if anyone had some advise on how we could decrease both artifacting and warping in our orthophoto's
