General / USB accelerators?
« on: March 24, 2015, 05:34:50 PM »
Hello

are there any USB accelerators usable with PhotoScan? I can imagine USB PCI raiser card and a video card in it, with USB 3.0 there can be some speedup, but maybe I can find something more specific?

Maybe some USB bitcoin miners can work with photos?

General / Licensing for network processing

Hello

It's unclear from manual if I have to purchase a license for every processing server or just for client node controlling the process?

Feature Requests / FreeBSD processing node
« on: March 06, 2015, 03:40:36 PM »
Hello,

it happens to me to have some FreeBSD servers at hand, with lots of unused CPU and some memory to spare to rendering; unfortunately, Linux x64 emulator is not available (some people claims to work on it, but nothing stable yet), running a virtual machine seems to me to be a waste of resources, and 32-bit application is limited to a puny 2Gb of RAM.

Can the processing kernel be rebuilt for FreeBSD/64? I'm quite willing to help.

General / CLI performance

Hello

does anyone have any information on relative performance of CPU and videocards?

And any positive experience of using videocards (or even better, high-performance systems like Intel Xeon Phi)?

General / Best practices for tank scanning
« on: March 05, 2015, 11:01:23 PM »
Hello!

I'm going to scan a tank with AgiSoft's PhotoScan

As far as I understand, it requires about 400-500 photos to make a good model of such an object.

I understand that photos should be made from several heights, and with good overlapping; but should I try to stay close to object or far enough to fit all object into viewfinder?

Maybe some other best practice recomendarion?
