General / Attempting to merge manually aligned chunks
« on: December 16, 2023, 07:11:05 PM »
I’m not sure if this is a bug or if I’m trying to use metashape incorrectly

I have a model of a medieval effigy of a lady. It is broken into two parts, one stacked on top of the other and placed in a wall recess in a church. My aim is to reunite the head in the correct position.
I have duplicated my original model into two new chunks, then disabled the original model.
In each of the two new chunks I have carefully trimmed each model to the areas that I need.
Select “Show Aligned Chunks” on toolbar, then repositioned and reorientated the chunks using the transformation tools “Move object” and “Rotate Object” – “Scale Object” doesn’t need to be changed since both chunks are from the same source.
When I merge the chunks then deselect “Show Aligned Chunks” - I’m left with one chunk with its region on a different alignment and no merging having occurred.

I’m loosely following these instructions using a model rather than point cloud. https://agisoft.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/31000157701-manual-chunk-alignment-standard-edition-

From the changelog https://www.agisoft.com/pdf/metashape_changelog.pdf

Version 2.0.2 build 16334 (5 June 2023)
Standard and Professional editions
Added Remove Texture, Remove UVs, Remove Vertex Colors and Remove Confidence commands to
model context menu.

These remove functions are not present in build 16404 standard edition Windows x64

I have a project open, with resize region selected.
I select the "File" menu and "New"

I would expect the model view to be blank, but in the center of the screen is one of the blue dots from corners of the region (when resizing), when I click and drag the dot a region appears although there are no point clouds or anything.

It does not cause me any problems (although initially a little confusion) but seems to be a bug I am able to easily repeat.

Bug Reports / Upload Data crash
« on: July 24, 2022, 10:52:10 PM »
Upload Data (to in my case Sketchfab) Source Data: Model, Parameters: Draft Model > OK

if the process is cancelled during the following two progress stages then metashape crashes/closes at the start of or during the upload stage:
Processing in Progress - Packaging Model
Processing in Progress - Uploading 37.23MB

if cancel during final stage
Processing in Progress - Processing Model > Aborted by User > OK (no crash) and model finishes processing on sketchfab.

I have consistently managed to repeat the bug with multiple different models.

-- If anyone is interested in why I might cancel an upload - sometimes I try to upload the most detailed high resolution model I can, the limitation being the upload size (MB) according to my account level, if the packaged model size is too large I cancel the upload, make adjustments and try again.

General / Reduce Overlap 1.7.0
« on: January 20, 2021, 12:37:50 AM »
How do you use the reduce overlap feature in 1.7.0 ? I'm familiar with this feature in previous versions now I'm a bit confused.

I have aligned cameras to build sparse cloud (206 Cameras), built mesh from sparse cloud, reduce overlap.

Select camera model, There is a choice of six cameras - what should I select? and what is the difference?:
DMC-GF3 (14mm) - which is the camera and lens combination I used to take the photos, Same Physical camera, same lens, 2 different apertures and 8 different shutter speeds, yet it appears five times in the list.
Default camera (50mm)

Surface Coverage ??

In the absence of an updated manual for version 1.7, is there some help on this

Feature Requests / Remove Vertex Colors
« on: December 01, 2018, 11:45:13 PM »
When building a mesh, one of the Advanced options is Calculate Vertex Colors

But once a mesh is created I can't see a method of removing vertex colours from a mesh, could this option be added to the menu when you right click on a chunk

thanks

Feature Requests / Multiple Duplicate Chunks
« on: November 22, 2017, 12:03:56 AM »
Would it be possible at the stage of selecting the "Items to copy" for "Duplicate Chunk" to have the option (by number) of specifying multiple duplicates?

using Photoscan Standard.

Bug Reports / Photos pane - selecting multiple photos/cameras
« on: October 15, 2016, 01:42:23 PM »
Photos Pane

I have a problem with selecting multiple individual photos/cameras to either disable or remove them.

I'm trying to select multiple photos/cameras by holding the Ctrl key and clicking individual photos to select them, but they keep deselecting - so I might get 1, 3, 5 photos selected before they deselect.
There seems to be no way of estimating how many can be selected before they deselect.
It is a rather tedious task doing one photo at a time then disabling or removing.

I have had this problem with every version of Photoscan I have ever used (from 0.9.0).

It would be useful to have a keyboard shortcut such as the delete key to remove selected photos in the photos pane.

Bug Reports / Sketchfab Uploader reporting error
« on: April 02, 2016, 11:08:44 PM »
Only had this issue with version 1.2.4 - model uploads, then goes onto processing, then at end of processing normally PS displays the url of the model on sketchfab but instead there is the following error message:

Can't upload model: Unknown error (200)
{"result": true, "sucess":true}

Photoscan Standard 1.2.4 , winX64

But model has successfully uploaded to sketchfab - so there doesn't appear to be a real problem.

Bug Reports / Minor issue: Photos Pane
« on: December 05, 2015, 11:03:25 PM »
On the Photos Pane when changing view of thumbnail size / details, the row height on the photo details is often displayed incorrectly (too high). Scrolling up and down the photo list - not every row is affected. Clicking on the top of a column to reorder the list returns the row heights to normal.

Bug Reports / Batch Process Bug
« on: November 26, 2015, 11:10:49 PM »
Hi got a few problems with batch process, I initially experienced it overnight with a 140 photo project them repeated the issue with a five photo project.

Some problems with batch process in a particular circumstance
1. Not saving project
2. No Dense cloud or Mesh after being processed

PhotoScan Standard 1.2.0 build 2198 (64 bit - windows)

New project.
I have added photos and Aligned Photos (Accuracy: High, Pair preselection: Generic, Key point limit: 0, Tie point limit: 0)
-- I check the photos have aligned properly
Go to Batch Process,
select Build Dense Cloud (Quality: High, Depth Filtering: Aggressive, Reuse depth maps: no)
select Build Mesh (Surface type: Arbitrary, Source Data: Dense cloud, Face Count: Custom, Custom face count: 0, Interpolation: Enabled)
tick the 'Save project after each step' box, click OK

As the project has not already been saved a file name has to be entered (in v1.2 I have been saving with PSX file extension)
The first step of the Batch Process saves the project (which is just the sparse cloud)
The dense cloud builds, processing can be seen in the console, but on completing of this step the project doesn't save it just continues on to Build the Mesh, at the end of building the mesh the project again doesn't save.

The Batch Process has completed, close its box - there is no sign of either a Dense Cloud or the Mesh in the PhotoScan program or the saved files.

----
If the project is saved before entering the Batch Process everything runs just fine and you get the Dense Cloud and Mesh and everything saves.
