General / Thermal images (DUET T camera)
« on: October 06, 2020, 05:15:37 PM »
Hi folks,

Currently, I'm working with eBee X + Duet T thermal camera for aerial mapping in crops. I know that the Pix4D has an optimized workflow for processing images from Duet T, but as an old Agisoft user, I would like to use Metashape to generate the thermal maps from that thermal camera.

Is it possible? If yes, how can I do it?

All the best,
Bernardo

General / Buffer full - ERROR
« on: November 07, 2019, 07:25:55 PM »
Dear,

I am trying to reopen a project that I'm working on and Metashape started to show the message "buffer full" (attached) when loading the PSX project. Just after about 10 minutes (!!), the project was opened! What is that?

General / Macbook Pro Vega 20 vs Dell Precision 5530
« on: February 11, 2019, 03:59:31 AM »
Dear all,

I would like to know if someone could help me with choosing between Macbook Pro Vega 20 versus Dell Precision 5530.

Both share the same amount of RAM (32Gb) and processor (i9). Thus, the main difference is the GPU, and the OS, off course.

Macbook Pro has Vega 20 GPU and Precision 5530 has Nvidia Quadro P2000.

I didn't find any comparison between these GPUs on the internet yet, specially related to photogrammetric purposes.

Do you know what GPU will do the job faster on Metashape?

I really appreciate your help.

Kind regards,
Bernardo

General / Thermal Infrared camera advice
« on: March 28, 2018, 10:32:54 PM »
Hi folks,

I am looking for a good TIR (Thermal Infrared) camera to attach on the UAV in order to monitor agriculture over field crops.

So, I have found TIR cameras from FLIR and OPTRIS. Do you have any other brands and models to suggest me?

In addition, I need to have TIR and RGB cameras attached on the UAV at the same time. What drone do you think it would be better for my needs? Phantom, Matrice, Inspire...

Thank you very much in advance.

Kind regards,
B

General / Distortion plot - how to use it?
« on: March 22, 2018, 09:09:10 PM »
Hi folks,

Can anyone explain me clearly what are and how to interpret the "Distortion Plot" graphics?

How can I use these results in my benefit (see attachments)?

Thanks in advance.

General / Orthomosaic for council tax calculation
« on: March 14, 2018, 10:08:05 PM »
Hello folks,

I did a flight over a city in Brazil to estimate the council tax value for each house. So, the idea is to generate a georeferenced orthomosaic of the whole city.

I have about 4300 photos and 140 GCPs got by dGPS. The flight was done using a DJI Phantom 4 Pro.

In that way, I would like suggestions of the best workflow to process all this images and get a precise orthomosaic that will be exported in .TIFF.

Considering the large amount of photos, I'll process everything on the cloud. So, RAM and CPU will not be a restriction.

All the best,
B

General / Mavic Pro or Phantom 3 Pro
« on: February 26, 2018, 03:17:02 PM »
Hi folks,

I'm looking for a drone for photogrammetry. In that way, considering my budget, I am between Mavic Pro and Phantom 3 Pro. I know that the Mavic is designed to be a portable UAV, but I want to know from you experts. What is the best drone for photogrammetry?

Are there too much difference between that models?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
B

General / Georeferenced point cloud in .txt
« on: July 19, 2017, 05:47:25 PM »
Dear,

I'm needing to export the point cloud as a .txt file but with the X, Y and Z columns for each point of the cloud.

Is it possible to do it in Photoscan?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

General / GPU problem on version 1.3 (Mac OS X)
« on: March 02, 2017, 05:45:31 PM »
Hi Alexey!

The new Photoscan version (1.3 build 3772) couldn't recognise the GPUs on my Macbook Pro. On 1.2 they worked well, but now...

Why this is happening?

This is the message that appears on the console:

2017-03-02 11:13:11 Iris Pro: no SPIR support
2017-03-02 11:13:11 AMD Radeon R9 M370X Compute Engine: no SPIR support

Thank you!

Best regards,
B

General / How to reduce the marker error (pix)
« on: May 31, 2016, 04:31:52 PM »
Hi folks,

I'm having difficulties in reduce the marker error (pix) and would like to know if somebody can help me with this.

I used Total Station to get the coordinates and I'm using the marker detect tool (cross non-coded) to project them in the images.

My workflow is:

1. Add images and uncheck the cameras
2. Align the photos (Key point = 120.000 and Tie point limit = 0)
3. Delete the reprojection error points with 0.5 and optimize
4. Take average reprojection error in pixels from the Reference pane and use this value as Tie Point accuracy (in pixels);
5. Optimize the camera alignment
6. Add markers' projections automatically through marker detection
7. Load the coordinates
8. Take reprojection error for markers from the Reference pane and use this value as Marker Accuracy parameter in the Reference pane settings;
9. Optimize the camera alignment.

I repeat the optimization based on markers after refining the Marker Accuracy until the optimization results are no longer significant.

Therefore, my results are not so good. I need a precision of millimetres and I'm getting 4 or 5 centimetres.

Somebody can help me?

All the best!

General / Validation points
« on: April 06, 2016, 07:09:31 PM »
Hi folks,

In my area I have 14 GCPs. I would like to use some points to validate the accuracy. But I don't understand very well how this process works, I just saw in the manual.

So, I know that I have to uncheck the markers to use it as validation points. But how can I know if the validate process was successful processed?

How can I use these validation results in my project?

Thanks.

General / Optimize settings
« on: March 31, 2016, 11:19:07 PM »
Dear,

I am using as Marker accuracy (pix) value the mean of Marker error (pix) and for Tie point accuracy (pix) value the mean of Camera error (pix).

I attached a screenshot to explain what I'm doing. Do you think that it is wrong to process the optimization with this settings?

If it is wrong, could you explain me, in detail, what is Marker accuracy (pix) and Tie point accuracy (pix)?

Thank you very much!

Kind regards,
Bernardo

General / Building dense cloud for soil surface (bare soil)
« on: January 24, 2016, 03:19:21 PM »
Dear,

I work with soil and I'm processing some models of soil surface, in order to calculate the volume of soil losses by water erosion. I'll compare the models and through the difference between them find the volume eroded. I don't have vegetation in pictures, just bare soil. I have an average of 200 photos in each project. The pictures was taken by UAV (DJI Phantom 3).

So, I need your help to know what is the best configuration to process the dense cloud.

What do you suggest me?

Thanks!

Kind regards,
Bernardo

General / Z-axis inverted with GCPs
« on: January 22, 2016, 08:02:30 PM »
Dear,

I'm having a problem with my model.

My photos was taken by drone and have coordinates. When I aligned them, all axes are in the correct positions. But when I insert the GCPs the z-axis pointing down. The GCPs coordinates was collected with total station and the order of the coordinates isn't wrong, I checked it several times.

I'm using SIRGAS 2000 / UTM zone 23S as coordinate system, because my photos are from Brazil.

All best,
Bernardo
