Feature Requests / Improved mesh detail
« on: January 17, 2019, 02:28:47 PM »
Hi,

Whilst looking at ways to manually texture the meshes, I came across this video of a technique used in Z-Brush which displaces the mesh using the texture maps (the result is around 7 minute onward in the video .

Would it be possible to add this mesh texture displacement option in Metashape? It seems to be a very worthwhile function to make the output significantly better than it is already?

Hi,

Much asked question, I have read all the threads on this subject, but none seem to mention like me that the memory is not actually being used anyway near its full potential.

I only have 32GB RAM installed on a windows 10 Pro (so can use all of RAM) OS, yet I keep getting "out of memory" errors, yet resource monitor shows that there is significantly over half the RAM free at all times.

I had been using GPU processing with use CPU and GPU compute option checked, I am now trying Just CPU in case it is a GPU RAM issue, not the PC, the GPU is only 2GB memory, so this could be the issue perhaps? its a GTX 680

Currently running the same problematic run right now and metashape is only using 2GB of memory whilst building mesh - yet it will fail on memory.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Feature Requests / Align model to plane based on selected points
« on: September 12, 2018, 11:32:33 AM »
It is very hard to align the model using the axis rotation as it is purely guesswork on visual estimation of horizontal and vertical axis.

An option to align a model based on selected points (three as a minimum or average of more than three) so that true alignment can be achieved.

Considering the whole point of the software is to create real-world models, it seems bizarre there isn't an easy way to rotate the model accurately.

This would be a VERY handy addition to functionality and save a lot of time during setup. Thanks!
