General / Photogrammetrieren persons with bald
« on: February 14, 2018, 12:56:34 PM »
Hall together. I want from a person with a bald head
Create a 3D model with Photoscan. Because the head surface
but very smooth and monochrome, Photoscan can not do that
deal properly and it does not come to nice results.
How can I make reasonable 3D images of bald people or
create a high forehead?

Face and Body Scanning / Small Tie points and bumpy surface by heads
« on: December 07, 2017, 06:28:58 PM »
Hello everybody. I have problems with the scan of a face. The surface is very bumpy. Short to the equipment:
Sony Nex 5n, cheaper Chromakey, softboxes for lighting.
I only use manual focus. The photos are so beautiful with 16 megapixels that I can recognize individual pores when zooming in. Lack of sharpness is not the problem. After shooting the pictures I increase the contrast and create masks in Photoscan.

In order to shorten the computing time for my tests, I work with only four photos, which is sufficient to calculate the front of the face. When I start aligning the photos, I only get ~ 600 tie points. In a test with a porcelain figurine, there are also 4 photos over 6000! How can this discrepancy come about? And why are the surfaces of the head so bumpy?

General / Worse results with high settings than middle ones
« on: December 03, 2017, 11:56:30 PM »
Hi Guys. I would like to create a bust of myself and have made in front of a greenscreen some photos of myself (tripod, soft boxes, Sony Nex 5n). The photos all have a good sharpness.

I then used Photoscan to create some masks that are not perfect but are 90% good. If I align the photos in medium quality (I tested it for quick editing with only 6 photos) then the result is not perfect, but okay (see first photo). But if I adjust the photos with high settings, a much worse result than with medium settings comes out, which is not useful at all. What is going wrong? Do I have to bring the picture into the editing, where only the background can be seen?

General / Model has large holes in point cloud
« on: November 22, 2017, 03:54:02 PM »
Hello. I took some photos of a frog figure with a Sony Nex 5N (59 in total) and created a point cloud and a mesh from it. Now the model on the legs shows very big clear holes, although the photos cover this area. What could have gone wrong?

General / Masking
« on: November 20, 2017, 01:00:34 AM »
Hello. I saw in a YouTube video how to create a mask and apply it to all the other images so that a mask was automatically created from each image. I would also like to do that, because so later after the generation of point clouds no longer the background needs to be edited and cut away. But this does not work for me. How should I proceed exactly? Unfortunately, the video I saw referred to an older version of PhotoScan.
