General / Need help with "detect powerlines" tool

Hi, I am trying to use the  "detect powerlines" tool, with very mixed results on HTA and HTB.

- What would be the best way to capture image, flying overhead is enough or should I do 2-3m offset on both side?
- Should I calibrate the color before?
- For minimum altitude for DEM, I should use the DTM right?
- "use model for visibility check" what parameter should I use to create the 3D model for best result if flying nadir
- Will modifying the tolerence, make the lines more detectable or more accurate?

General / Power cables in the dense cloud

Hi,

I have been using Metashape for a few years and was never able to get a correct dense point of cloud with power cable 90Kv and more. Recently I tried Dji Terra and it gave me a near perfect result, would it be possible to achieve the same on Metashape?

Hi,

The detect powerlines tool is absolutely awesome, I would love to get those extra features :

- The ability to get some data on the electrical poles, like : altitude of the base and altitude of the top.
- Be able to select the number of height value for each span, like 9 points for each span and each phase and a total of 11 points counting the poles.
- Getting a unique reference for each span.

General / Need validation on my workflow

Hi,

I am just starting to use fixed aperture 25mm without microchip and I am unsure about my workflow.

- Doing camera calibration one time, taking picture of the chessboard, then load them and doing a calibrate lens, outputing a XML file
- Starting a new project, loading picture
- Loading the XML calibration file
- Changing the unknown pixel size and focal length, to 23.50 x 15.60  and 25
- Starting alignment with the following parameters :
   Accuracy : High
   Generic and Reference preselection
   Adaptative camera model fitting
- Once finished, running optimize camera alignment with
   Everything in general selected
   Adaptative camera model fitting

I just would like to know if it's the right way, or can I do it better?

Feature Requests / Dense cloud point selection by density

Hi,

I really like to use the classify point function now on the 1.6, it's much better than on 1.5.

But even if it is less present, I still have vegetation classed as ground. In 99% of the case it's a very small group, far from other points and only less than a dozen points in each group.

I would love to be able to select points based on their number within a certain volume

General / Questions about network processing

Hi,

I am currently working in Ivory Coast for a drone training academy. We also do Photoscan training.

I have a few question about the network possessing, because I will soon receive a very good laptop 9900k with 2 GTX 1080, and would like to test it with our 9980XE with double 1080Ti.


- Will it share the load, based on the machines performances, like 30% on an old computer and 70% on a new system? can I configure that?

- If on normal processing "single computer" some treatment like dense cloud or mesh takes 40go of RAM for a 128GO computer, will it use 20-20 on both computer in the network?

- If the answer to the questions above is positive, does that make any sense to go to AMD epyc or Intel Xeon with a network setup?


I just would like to expend my knowledge a bit on that
