General / Estimating Camera Locations - 10 Band Micasense

Good evening everyone,

I am trying to process a Ten band dataset, but I can't get through the initial alignment at the "Estimating Camera Locations"  step.  The process I am currently running is estimating about a year to complete this step..   I have tried this same dataset, PPK corrected, non-PPK corrected and the MicaSense tagging with no difference in result.

I ran similar datasets last year on the same machine and it was able to start from scratch to an ortho deliverable in just a few hours.

I have reviewed the "MicaSense RedEdgeMX Processing workflow" article and followed the instructions listed there.

General / Ortho and DEM Export - No Data Areas

Good evening,

Is there a way to change the no data areas color on ortho and DEM exports?  They are okay in grey for most clients, but I have had a request to change them to black.

General / Mapbox Upload - Bad Request

General / Export an Ortho for each band, MicaSense Red Edge MX, 10 Band.

Good afternoon,

I am in the process of getting familiar with outputting calibrated reflectance maps - my client will be wanting each band individually, but I am not sure how to do this.

The process I am following is this one:

As far as I understand, I use the Raster Calculator, and insert the B#/32768 for each band - once that is done, in the Export window I am not sure which band it is exporting.  This gets more complicated for me, as I will be processing 10 band in the coming weeks.. 

Do I have to do 10 separate exports, and how do I ensure that I am getting each band with calibrated reflectance, thank you.

General / More Datum Shift: Translation from WGS84 to Alberta 3TM

I have a couple of datasets that lined up perfectly with the PPK solution from my drone - it seems to work best to convert my check point, which is Alberta 3TM and HT2 vertical datum to ellipsoidal elevation and WGS84, this gives me a couple of centimeters of XYZ error.

When I convert my tags and check point to Alberta 3TM, the whole project shifts by around a meter of XYZ.  What would cause this?  If there is no fix within the software / datums, can I manually shift my map to the known point?  A workflow for this would also solve my problem.

General / HT2 Vertical Datum Issue - Now says Unsupported Vertical Datum

When I add GCP's using Alberta 3TM 114 meridian, with CGVD28 HT2, I now get an "Unsupported vertical datum" message.  The pull down for CRS's give me the option to reproject with CGVD 2013, but CGVD28 does not come down as an option.

I was able to Edit Coordinate System (it did find CGVD28 in this window)  but this still shows errors.

I am looking forward to any guidance on this, CGVD 28 does not work as seamless as the other vertical datums.

General / WGS84 Exports distorted in QGIS

I did a search and this seems to be an inconclusive topic.  The one solution I found was to use UTM 11N for the CRS, but that won't work for the client.

Inputting the ortho - DEM's into QGIS distorts the maps, and measurements are simply wrong.

General / Thermal Orthomosaic Workflow

Does Metashape have the ability to create orthomosaics with R-JPEG or JPEG thermal?  I am attempting to create an orthomosaic with 640 x 512 XT2 data, with no luck. 

So, I am looking for alignment settings, and the workflow to attain an ortho.

General / HT2 Vertical Datum Issue

Good evening,

I am trying to load the CGVD28 - HT2 vertical datum.  I followed the download procedure and inserted the file into the geoids folder as per the instructions on the web page.

I also loaded CGVD 2013, it automatically populated for me on the convert tab.

But, I am trying to access HT2 because it is becoming the popular request of some of my clients...  I even tried the procedure described at this link, to no avail.

The description here is not consistent with what I am seeing in the program.

General / Processing Tips?

Good morning all!

I am getting a handle on this program, but there are still a few things that get me from time to time.  I am able to create a point cloud, but the model does not capture some of the detail the point cloud captures.  Please see the screen captures of my example.

Any tips on how to properly capture the overhead structure of this bridge for example?  The point cloud did a nice job of it, and it was flown with a double oblique grid, as well as an orbit.

General / KMZ / KML Export not showing in Maps or Earth Pro

As mentioned in the subject line, is there a trick to getting KMZ / KML models and mosaics to actually function in Maps / Earth?  I have looked at a few options on the Google side, none of those solutions worked.  So, that leaves me with Metashape being the issue for errors.

General / Alignment Workflow - Issues

Good evening all,

I am in the process of trying to align photos flown by a WingraOne with PPK geotags and the Sony RXIRII 42 MP camera.  I am finding that the alignment process is missing alignments of several photos, with the Reference and Generic preselection boxes ticked.  I am also running the process with the Adaptive Camera Fit checked as well.  Of 1500 photos, 70 or so are misaligned in large areas.  The photos themselves were captured over large forested areas, so there should be many points to align to otherwise.

If there is no way to get the automation working, is there a more efficient way to manually align?  Working on 4 points per photo times 70 plus is going to be far more time consuming than I would like.
