Bug Reports / UDIM issue with 1010 texture
« on: September 26, 2022, 12:55:24 AM »
Does anyone else happen to work with big Metashape UDIM mesh models in Substance Painter? I’m hitting a problem when I have 10 or more texture files.  The 10th is missing its associated UV tiles when I open in Substance and is therefore projected wrongly. All other texture files, >10 and <10 are fine, but the 1010 is screwed.  I’m not sure which end is causing the problem.  If I regenerate textures in Agisoft at lower resolution to keep tiles under 10 then the problem goes away, but I need more resolution.

Can anyone assist?

General / RedEdge dark orthomosaics
« on: July 02, 2020, 09:49:09 PM »
I've seen others reporting this, but no conclusive answers...

The RGB orthomosaics produced by my Micasense RedEdge surveys are generally very dark. I use reflectance panels for calibration with normalisation checked. I then produce the RGB by setting the raster calculator as below.

However the entire dynamic range of the RGB bands seems to be in the 0-0.1 range on the histogram, hence the dark images I guess. Is this normal or is something going wrong? It is recoverable if necessary, but seems odd.

General / MacOS/Windows project compatability

Is it feasible to use projects interchangeably on Mac and PC versions of Metashape? I have some models I want to process on AWS but then manipulate locally on Mac OS

General / Projection files from Trimble GPS units
« on: September 04, 2019, 10:22:16 PM »
I'm working on a site where there is a local grid in operation. I've asked for a .prj file but the only output available is a Trimble .cal file. Is this any use to me? And, if so, is there any way to make a .prj file from it?

General / Optimal strategy for AWS instances
« on: July 26, 2019, 12:23:47 PM »
Having used AWS for the last month and seen the costs racking up, I'm wondering what is the best strategy for running Metashape on AWS instances.

At the moment I have two on-demand instances:
G3.4x.large - for bulk of heavy processing
M5.2x.large - for general work (e.g. aligning GCPs, exporting data)

I then keep a 150Gb volume for project files which can be attached to either machine. And offload outputs to S3 for client delivery.

Questions:
1) as these are currently Windows, I guess moving to Linux would be a good start?
2) are spot instances an option? (it looks like G3 machines are not supported with a hibernate option and also I foresee licensing being an issue)
3) are these sensible machine types as a balance of speed v cost?

General / Moving checkpoints after aligning and optimising
« on: July 06, 2019, 10:52:36 PM »
Forgive me - beginner's question...

I'm doing a topographical survey using DJI Inspire 2 /X7 and following the famous (& excellent) SAV workflow for GCPs and checkpoints.

On completion, I noticed that some of my checkpoints (which were not used as GCPs in the processing) are in various different positions as I move between the photos in which they feature.

Two questions:
1) is it necessary for error checking after the processing workflow to filter the images by a given checkpoints and position them against the photos?
2) am I correct to assume that the fact the markers are moving between images like this suggests a significant error has crept in?

General / Abort download of large cloud export
« on: June 28, 2019, 11:07:59 AM »
Is there any way to abort the creation of a large project component after it has been processed in the cloud?
I just ran an orthomosaic creation, not realising it would result in an 8Gb file which is now going to take 4 hours to download (and it seems I can't do anything else on the project until that sync is complete)
I'd prefer just to scrap that so that I can create the orthomosaic locally while doing other things.
