General / Mac Pro benchmarks / performance with Metashape
« on: December 01, 2021, 10:00:20 PM »
Hello, I am reaching out to see if anyone has been using the 2019 Mac Pro workstation with Metashape and what their benchmarks / performance has been. If you donʻt mind, please specify your specs (CPU, GPUs, RAM, etc.). Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Feature Requests / Zoom to marker/shape
« on: June 08, 2021, 11:35:17 PM »
Some projects have many (30+) markers. It would be great to simply right-click > Zoom/Go to marker... and then it will center the model over that marker. Even with removing labels it is difficult to locate markers on a mesh or orthomosaic when you have many. Also bring the same feature for shapes.

Hello everyone,

UPDATED from original post from Dec 20th, 2020:

Attached is a brief summary report of a project completed using drone imagery for surveying 16 site locations (images per site ranged from 67 to 745). Many people have asked me about Apple computers running Metashape. I hope this helps give somewhat of a general idea for some of the Mac users out there.

Also, like many of us know, there are numerous factors that influence how the various steps in Metashape run. Please be aware that I mainly focused on collecting the times (as reported in Metashape) for running the photo alignment, dense cloud, and mesh model steps. Higher alignment was used to improve orthomosaics but also as a comparison for standard 40,000/10,000 alignment key point and tie point limits.

Feel free to ask any questions. Thanks.

Pgs. 2 and 3 - graphs of photo alignment and dense cloud times compared with number of images

General / Create distance "buffer" in textured model
« on: March 12, 2020, 07:42:42 AM »
Hi everyone,

I am wondering if it is possible to create a "buffer" around a center point in my models and then have the portion of the model that is not included in the buffer to either be hidden or deleted (or it could be highlight and then I would go press the X icon to delete the selected sections outside the buffer circle). I am not seeing a way this is possible using the GUI, so would this require some python scripting? I want to measure the surface area of these models but have them be consistent with a specific radius from the center point. My models are georeferenced.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

General / import ply file and combine images
« on: February 28, 2020, 02:12:55 AM »
Has anyone taken a point cloud (preferably ply file) and combined images on top of it to enhance to model texture? When I import a ply file, nothing appears.
