General / fbx export results in .mtl files

Everytime I export my model and chose fbx for the export flavor I get a resulting .mtl file (along with associated textures)
I woudl expect to see a .fbx file in there as well. Is this a glitch?
The person who needs my model will be using autocad and has asked for fbx format.

General / texture generation

I have a large model with several chunks aligned and merged.  Some massive parts of the model  have been cut out during  subsequent chunk merges down the line.  With each new merge I know that the images carry over into the newly merged chunk and I am aware that I can deactivate specific images when re texturing the finished merged model..  I am dealing with tons of images so I'd rather not have to manually hunt down and deactive those images that have bad white balances (overexposed etc) that I have already excluded from my model with the cut tool. My question is, when I go to retexture the final model are all the images being used to create the final retexture, EVEN IF those images have been cut out of the visual model, just because they are carried over with the model merged into the new chunk?

I also know that I could retextured based on the model alone but that is not good enough.  I'd like to use the mosaic texture feature but I'm wondering if metashape is programmed to understand which images are no longer in the visual model after being cut out of the mdoel and will exclude those images durign the texture generation? From some of my tests it appears that those whonky colors are creeping in despite the fact that I have cut them out of the model. Hope this makes sense

After placing manual points and successfully aligning cameras that didn't  originally align I notice that the number of tie points listed in my spare point cloud model doesn't change.  Shouldn't I see an increased number of sparse point points after these camera aligned.  I guess what I'm asking is what am I gaining from spending the extra time aligning cameras if it doesn't appear to be added to my data set? If it is adding to my data set, where do I see "the points" numbers increase? Do I see this further down the line while building mesh/dense cloud etc?

General / texture enable hole filling

Can anyone explain or provide a visual example of the "salt and pepper effect" referenced in the manual : "texture Enable hole filling. This option is enabled on default since it helps to avoid salt-and-pepper effect in case of complicated surfaces etc"

I usually leave this unchecked, especially for scenarios where I am merging multiple models 

I thought I had an understanding of what this feature does but I don't understand the salt and pepper part.

Bug Reports / component disappears after merge

I assigned three manual parkers to images in two separately aligned components with the intention of merging them. After I merged them the two components disappeared without a trace.

When I run textures metashape is crashing. It consistently crashes when running textures in general mosaic mode. While running ortho mosaic mode it crashes about 50 percent of the time.

Processing on a  PC, images are 3840x2160 16bitt Tiffs

FYI General mosaic textures run okay on smaller models in my project so the problem seems to happen with larger models.  (maybe the higher polygon counts are messing texture generation up?)

update: still not luck on texture generation

Also crashes metashape while generating tiled model.  (after about three hours processsing).  It crashes when it says it's almost done.
