Face and Body Scanning / Tether software usage
« on: October 07, 2014, 01:28:50 PM »
A query to those folk using DSLR tether software & studio flash...I just read these posts on the canon point&shoot chdk hack forum (we know those cameras all / mostly have large DOF):

http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=11667.msg114638#msg114638
"Clearly querying / manipulating single cams is something that should be improved, and should tied in with permanent serialnumber based camera identification. It shouldn't be terribly hard to make mc:cmd etc operate on a subset of available cameras."

http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=11667.msg114642#msg114642
"I will keep your example scripts in mind , in case , specific subnet of cameras should be setup with certain focus/zoom/etc values although i feel the same with what you said..it will be a bit tedious to do so.Lets hope it won't be needed."

Question(s):
If your DSLR's had point&shoot DOF, in what way would you use your tether software? i.e
(i) what settings would you adjust, via tether software, globally (on all cameras)
(ii)  assuming DSLR "on camera" adjustment was not available, what settings would you adjust on individual cameras, by tether software, if "selectable single camera" liveview was available on tether PC monitor ?

For those who may be interested in a multi-cam chdk based solution this is interesting:

General / Python Scripting Automation

Apologies,

haven't got time to read the reference [or look at previous forum postings] at the minute.

Might anyone be so kind as to comment - after securing the images can most all processing steps be automated via python scripting ?

General / Augmented Reality Applications
« on: May 11, 2013, 06:38:04 PM »
My 3D r&d is currently at a standstill [for the next couple of months at least].

As well as 3d [human] printing I had started to look at this subject but nothing much to share yet.

Might anyone post their learning and experience of using photoscan data within Augmented Reality Applications [commercial / otherwise] ?

I'm particulary interested in the ipad/android tablet type environment [not oculus-rift type stuff yet] whereby a 3d "still" [of a person] is reviewed / navigated around [e.g  a "marker" in the home enviromment].

Recommendations / costs / semi-DIY / DIY solutions - anything appreciated.

I suspect a quiet thread - but...has anyone ever attempted pscan capture of the "bursting balloon / water droplet" kind of stuff ?

Face and Body Scanning / Samsung NX1000
« on: January 12, 2013, 04:44:18 PM »
I want to setup a 3d photobooth [3d (human) model printing] - with a phyical high-street presence. Lee's setup is incredible but I have reasonably limited resource and [more importantly] no experience / very limited workflow knowledge - so this will be a huge task.

I've gone down many of the discovery routes [kscan3d / reconstructme (interestingly getting SDK for Leap soon), Artec / Creaform etc] but, I believe, photoscan is definitely the product of choice for quality models that [I hope] the market will provide a living from.

Multiple cameras are, of course, a pre-requisite of the business model - the android wifi remote trigger of the Samsung NX1000 looks promising. While I understand that a handful of diodes [or even an arduino/teensy++ with a little C++ control] and a shed load of old canon eos550D's will crack [part of] the hardware nut i'm wondering if anybody has experience of the [multiple] Samsung NX1000 along with photoscan that they could share ?
