General / Re: Export confidence as a texture map?
« on: December 20, 2023, 08:16:03 PM »
btw. if you are interested to get the confidence values as a mask into ZBrush (what interested me the most)
you can also import the confidence with ply in cloud compare as intensity and then export it again and import it into ZBrush with vertex colors.

That way you can mask the confident parts out and only sculpt on the non confident parts.

Hi Wishgranter,

looking forward to these tutorials.
Are you planning a python-tutorial, too?

Thanks!

Python and Java API / Parameters of Orthophotos-export
« on: June 21, 2012, 11:36:46 PM »
Hi,

i am trying to make a scripted export of orthophotos in which i will export a orthophoto for/with each photos used in a chunk (so i can join them later manually in photoshop).

I would like to specify the projection by markers, but i am having a hard time to calculate the normal of the plane, that the markerpoints are constructing.

So i thought i maybe could do the export one time manually and write down the projection matrix to reuse it later in python.
Is it possible to see what export parameters were used for a Ortho export?

Similar problem goes with the "region boundary estimation"... i think i could come up with a similar calculation, but if this information is somewhere accessible (console or ogged debug output, or in the API via a print command) then i could simply reuse the values from a first manual export.

I hope i explained my problem in a understandable way.

Best Regards

Hi kiteman,

for easy and free 3D CAD drawing i would suggest Google Sketchup.

Other free programs for this purpose (or free programs to work with scandata) you can find on this page on my Free3DNews-Blog at:

Hi,

i dont know the performance values of a i7, but i guess when you want to use the machine only for photoscan then you would go better with an powerful i7 and an powerful nvidia graphics card.

I posted the values only so you could compare.

Hi Sam,

on that Mac Pro (2x6x2,66) i get about CPU performance of around 180 plus 50( up to 90) with a Radeon 5770 GPU-performanceon OS X

But performance values a varying a bit from scene to scene. (and i guess change with different releases too)

Hi Alexey,

it would be very cool if cropping of invalid 3d geometry could be implemented for the 3d view too.
And/or for the model export (but i guess its better for the 3d view, this way the texture atlas is better when the texture is calculated after cropping)

Thanks very much for that.

Hello Jan,

Could you please check the message that is displayed after the license key is confirmed. What does it say?
Hi Alexey,
its "thank you for registering Agisoft PhotoScan"

Hello RHenriques,

To apply the license key for the future program starts you need to run PhotoScan under SuperUser.

Hi Alexey,

i have the same problem that with the latest OS X-build, i always have to reenter the license code upon startup. (i am admin on the machine)
Even starting photoscan from the terminal as sudo does not change that.

General / Re: Export to QuicktimeVR or similar
« on: October 19, 2011, 10:37:23 PM »
Hi Johan,

in Photoscan this is not possible, and i doubt such a feature will be implemented in the future.
This is because a Quicktime VR is nothing more than an image sequence with a camera rotating around the center point of an object.

Some 3d rendering applications support rendering into Object VR though:

For example, you could export from photoscan into a 3d format (VRML in this case) and bring it into Cinema 4D and render from there a Quicktime Object VR out.

General / Re: Quality of Merged Chunks
« on: September 16, 2011, 07:14:32 PM »
Hi Alexey,

do you have any news on this?

I tried merging 3 chunks today and the result of the merged mesh still misses a lot of detail compared to the original meshes.

Best Regards
Jan
