Face and Body Scanning / Re: Building a 39 camera full body rig

Interesting.  If I'm doing a full body scan, I'm willing to bet that it's still better than using a Sense scanner or Kinect.  I'm not creating any game assets, just models to display online and to 3d print in color.  But I'm intrigued by the idea, and if the cheap cameras do well, I might be able to step up to nicer DSLR cameras in the future.

I haven't tried Acute yet because it doesn't work with my gpu yet.  Oddly enough, I have gotten decent results with a turntable and Recap 360.  It doesn't work every time and it leaves something to be desired, but I was really surprised that it worked at all.  I was also using a different camera and I haven't gotten anything good out of the one I'm using now.

Here's an example:  https://skfb.ly/A7pJ

That's a lot of money for cameras!  I wonder what kind of results you would get from an array of $50-$100 point and shoot cameras?  I saw the Pi array with those cameras, and that quality seems like it's okay for 3d printing at least.

This is incredible and exactly why I've started 3d scanning.

Yes I will be happy to send it to you!

Thank you everyone for your support!  This software seems incredible, I'm just not sure what I'm doing yet!

I did mask everything except for the object.  I used roughly 60 pictures, but I have more if I need them.  Unfortunately, I guess maybe they aren't very good. There are a few examples of my photos here:

They are all of similar quality.

I'm curious as to what cameras people use for these set ups.  Anyone willing to share their experiences?

Hi all!

I'm working with the demo version of PS to evaluate it for purchase.  I've used Recap 360 to decent results, but I hear that PS is superior...if I could figure out how to use it correctly!

I read that it is possible to use a turntable with the software, so I attempted it.  Unfortunately, when I attempt to align it, all of the cameras are on top of each other and not spread out in a circle as they should be.  I think that I may have gotten too much of the background in the photos, but unfortunately, I don't have access to the object to take more photos.  The object is Jimmy Carter's 2002 Nobel Peace Prize, which is a pretty big deal for me.

Is there a way to fix this error without getting a new set of photos?  Would someone be willing to possibly look at my photos to tell me where I messed up?

Thanks!
