General / Project snow landscape (3D model snow volume)
« on: December 27, 2022, 12:16:32 PM »
Dear Agisoft Community

I work in the field of surveying / national surveying in switzerland.

The goal of our new project is a 3D model in the mountains after fresh snowfall (Goal: 3D-Model of the surface of the snow ).
We suspect that the processing could be difficult because after fresh snowfall everything is pretty much white, without any contours.

Is such a processing even possible?

Are there any tips for data collection with the drone? camera settings?

What do we have to consider during processing (settings?) so that we recive the best results (few artifacts)?

Thank you for the feedback and help.

Tom

Please note the red arrows! It is not a "garden fence"! Should be a green field!

Hello everybody,

I have a problem to calculate orthophotos with function "mosaic". Particulary along buildings are some strange effects. Like a shadow.
The mesh in these regions looks good.

How can I solve / avoid this problem?

Many thanks

General / Quality Fix Calibration
« on: July 15, 2015, 10:51:52 PM »
Hello everybody,

I'm working in the field of areal photogrammerty with a multicopter and a fixed Lens (sigma 19mm F/2.80) . Until now i've used about 12 GCP for every project to calculated the values of camera calibration (optimize tool) respectively to georeference my project.
If I now export the camera values from a project (calculated with optimize tool) and than import for new projects with using "fix calibration":

Questions:
A:  Could i reduce the number of GCP Points for a project keeping same data qualitiy?

B: How can I calculate most reliably the fixed camera values
-->a) SW Agisoft Lens
-->b) with a very low fly altitude (result= detailed recordings to determine GCP)
-->c) with a fly on normal operating altitude --> about 100m

Or is it definitely recommended to calculated the camera values for every projekt new, because of the "low quality lens"?

Can anyone help?

General / Re: Error "Align Photos"
« on: March 04, 2015, 11:41:45 PM »
Hello Alexey,

many thanks for your constructive answer.  I will try out your tips tomorrow in the office.

And YES, i am trying to combine aerial images with ground based images. The areal imagaes have an overlap off about 80% (--> large overlap). I assume that these set of images can be oriented  without any problems.
The based images are detailed shots of the facades.

I assume the problem is, that PS tried FIRST to do alignment with based detailed images (small or no overlap) and then SECONDLY processing areal images. Possible?

How can I avoid this effect for next time? Rename file names of images to modify image order respectively processing order?

MANY Thx

General / Error "Align Photos"
« on: March 04, 2015, 10:00:28 AM »
Hello all,

I have a project with 1909 cameras (taken by drone and by hand). The object is a field with 4 houses.

I have now processed "Align Photos" (Accuracy=High, Pair Pre = Disabled, KP=60000, TP=0, Constraint = Yes ).

Most alignments seem to be good (zoom in does not work well). But a few of the pictures do not fit into the scene (false scale and fals position).

What I have to do now? Can i somehow only select and delete the incorrect pictures/points (without  processing the whole scene again).

Many Thx

General / Export Planar Orthophoto
« on: February 28, 2015, 01:34:00 AM »
Hello all,

following question:

How can I export from a 3D-Model (georeferenced with GCP or not) some planar Orthophotos whitch are oriented based on geometries in the model (e.g parallel to the facade,.. )?

I've tried it, but did not work (see attached files). The Orthophoto were allways upside down and from wrong side.

What is the workflow?

Hello together,

any help? Alexey?

Many thanks

Hello bigben

Step 1 to step 3 if clear.

But why are you saving the lens settings from step 3 for a new optimisation? to refine the values?

I use Photoscan for surveying tasks (terrain models,..). I always calculate my dense cloud with the values of a single optimisation with GCP. And this for each project again.

Right or wrong way?

Hi all,

I work with the latest version of PhotoScan Proffessional 1.1.2 build 2014.

After my first projects I have following questions:

1) What is the exactly function of the new tool "ground altitude" in Reference Settings window? When it is useful?

2) When is the "Camera Corretion" in Reference Setings useful?

3) In one of the tutorials is shown, that for "guided marker placement" is needed to
reconstruct geometry first. I did the marker placement so far without reconstucting of geometry - and it worked.
Or what is the advantage ?

4) Process to minimicing "reprojection error" of POINT CLOUD.
Is it the idea to  thin out Point Cloud after Align Step with "Reprojektion error (Gradual selection)" tool (e.g threshold 1.0 )  THEN "Optimize Camera Alignment" THEN Again *Reprojection Error* THEN Again "Optimize Camera Alignment" ...
... and so on until the desired threshold is reached???or what is the correct order ?

many thanks for the help

Hi,

what about GIMP? Is there a plugin to import and save geotiff (.tiff) files?

Would be great!

Hi Oli63 and Darko,

many thank for the inputs.

I need to take pictures for areal photogrammetry projects (surveying tasks -->
stable geometry when shooting). I'm using a multicopter system and i collect the images in a height between 80 and 100 meters. Now we are using a sigma 19mm. The images are actually nice, but on the corners the sharpness is sometimes very bad.

My questions:
1) Do you think the 16mm is better suited for our kind of projects?

2) in which mode you recommend to capture the images?
(Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, Manual Exposure, Programm Auto,..?)

3) Recommended settings:
> aperture: 8-11?
> shutter speed: about 1/1000 ?
> ISO: Auto?
> focus: manual?
> format: jpg or raw?

I'm very thankful for your tips.

Hi,

I currently also use a nex-7 with the sigma 19mm objective. I'm like darko not very satisfied.

Does anyone have a good advice for an Nex-7 objective (E-Mount) for areal photogrammetry (fixed lens) and "low weight".

Lens should simply produce good quality images!!!

thx

General / Orthophoto editing Software
« on: January 09, 2015, 10:40:34 AM »
Hello all,

i'm looking for a software (free or commercial) to edit exported orthophotos - format GeoTIFF(.tif) !

The goal would be to retouch for example vehicles or people on areal orthofoto or perform color adjustments.

Does anyone have a good tip?

I'am also looking for a SW which allows to automatically improve - radiometric adjustments,...-  whole image stacks (500 pics and more) to get the best results in photoscan.

Many thanks for your inputs
