General / Thermal images (DUET T camera)
« on: October 06, 2020, 05:15:37 PM »
Hi folks,

Currently, I'm working with eBee X + Duet T thermal camera for aerial mapping in crops. I know that the Pix4D has an optimized workflow for processing images from Duet T, but as an old Agisoft user, I would like to use Metashape to generate the thermal maps from that thermal camera.

Is it possible? If yes, how can I do it?

All the best,
Bernardo

I am also interested in that topic. I have a senseFly Duet T thermal camera and would like to know how to use those images into Metashape.

All the best,

Hi Alexey,

Problem solved when I deleted the shapes. The shape folder had about 1Gb.

General / Buffer full - ERROR
« on: November 07, 2019, 07:25:55 PM »
Dear,

I am trying to reopen a project that I'm working on and Metashape started to show the message "buffer full" (attached) when loading the PSX project. Just after about 10 minutes (!!), the project was opened! What is that?

General / Macbook Pro Vega 20 vs Dell Precision 5530
« on: February 11, 2019, 03:59:31 AM »
Dear all,

I would like to know if someone could help me with choosing between Macbook Pro Vega 20 versus Dell Precision 5530.

Both share the same amount of RAM (32Gb) and processor (i9). Thus, the main difference is the GPU, and the OS, off course.

Macbook Pro has Vega 20 GPU and Precision 5530 has Nvidia Quadro P2000.

I didn't find any comparison between these GPUs on the internet yet, specially related to photogrammetric purposes.

Do you know what GPU will do the job faster on Metashape?

I really appreciate your help.

Kind regards,
Bernardo

Hi SAV,

Good to know that new feature of the 1.4 version.

I did what you said but the result was very bad. The amount of points reduce dramatically as well.  I attached the sparse cloud before and after the addition of the new photos.

Another thing I noticed is that when I import the new photos, the coordinates doesn't appear on the reference pane. I highlighted it on the screen shot.

All the best!

Thanks SAV.

I noticed that I had some holes in my model. In this way, I returned to the area and did another flight, taking more pictures just for the empty areas. So, what do I need to do now?

Can I import the new photos to the project that is already aligned and align just the new cameras or I'll need to run everything (alignment, dense cloud, etc) again?

And what about the GCP, do I need to replace all of them again in my model? Just remember that I have 4800 photos, including the new ones, and 80 GCP.

Kind regards,
B

Hi topodrone,

Are you selling the bundle drone + RTK? if yes, do you send to Brazil?

All the best,

General / Thermal Infrared camera advice
« on: March 28, 2018, 10:32:54 PM »
Hi folks,

I am looking for a good TIR (Thermal Infrared) camera to attach on the UAV in order to monitor agriculture over field crops.

So, I have found TIR cameras from FLIR and OPTRIS. Do you have any other brands and models to suggest me?

In addition, I need to have TIR and RGB cameras attached on the UAV at the same time. What drone do you think it would be better for my needs? Phantom, Matrice, Inspire...

Thank you very much in advance.

Kind regards,
B

Hi SAV,

According to the processing settings you shared, there are almost 700 unaligned cameras. This could potentially lead to image overlap issues in some parts of your model and therefore 'rough edges' (If you don't have a good overlap, it can be tricky to reconstruct such sharp edges). Can you share the processing report please (FILE > EXPORT > GENERATE REPORT)?

Those 700 unaligned cameras I had to disable according to their quality. All of them showed less that 0.7 in "estimate quality" analysis. Do you think that is it better to keep them? Or just reduce from 0.7 to 0.5? Regarding to the report, I tried to send you, but exceeded the maximum file size limit. Maybe I can send it to you by mail.

Moreover, the maximum reprojection error is very high. Have you filtered/cleaned your tie point cloud (=sparse point cloud) before building the dense cloud? MODEL > GRADUAL SELECTION. Large alignment errors can also contribute to such geometrical inconsistencies.

Yes, I did it twice. How many times do you advice me to proceed with the point cloud cleaning?

Thank you!!

General / Distortion plot - how to use it?
« on: March 22, 2018, 09:09:10 PM »
Hi folks,

Can anyone explain me clearly what are and how to interpret the "Distortion Plot" graphics?

How can I use these results in my benefit (see attachments)?

Thanks in advance.

Hello SAV,

I could process the dense cloud in just one go using your advice with 12CPUs/100Gb RAM/ 2x NVIDIA Tesla K80.

But I have distortion on the roofs in the orthomosaic (attached image).

Is there any way to fix it? A friend of mine told me that Pix4D can generate orthomosaics without this distortions on roofs. Photoscan can manage with it?

Just to let you know, I also attached the processing parameters.

Thank you!

All the best,
B

Hi SAV,

For sure I'll let you know when I have my results published. My email is b.moreiracandido@lancaster.ac.uk if you send me any message, I can save your address.

In the "Split in chunks" box, what could be a good Overlap (%) and numbers of parts that will be divided?

For my needs, do you think that it's necessary to build mesh? I'll choose height field, as my intend is just produce orthomosaic.

Have a good weekend!  ;)

Cheers,
B

Hi SAV,

I don't have words to say thank you for every help you give for Agisoft community. You are a professor/supervisor for me. I'm a PhD student and for sure you are one of the most important person in my learning process about photogrammetry.

Regarding to my previous question.

Do you think that it's better I use a machine with 12 CPUs/2 NVIDIA P100/240Gb RAM for the whole process than 64 CPUs/240Gb RAM?

Is it easy to use the Python script you sent me? I don't have any knowledge in python language.

Good to know the factors that have influence on the motion blur. I used a rented P4P for that survey, but because of my limit budget, I bought a Mavic Pro for future ones. My idea is to use it just to get money enough and buy the P4P.

All the best and thank you one more time!

B
