General / Set default ground plane using markers
« on: July 24, 2016, 12:35:13 AM »
Hello everyone,

I made a 3D model of a statue in Photoscan. During photo shoot, the statue was reclined with it's back on the table. I put multiple markers that I printed from the Photoscan on the table around the statue. I marked the markers in the Photoscan after photo alignment and inserted scales. I only measured distances between markers, I don't have marker coordinates.

The first problem is that the default top view of the model is upside down - when I export the 3d model in pdf the first view after opening the file is from the bottom of the model and then it needs to rotate to top view. I want to make default view so I can see face of the statue right away. How do I do that?

Also, I need to make orthomosaics for the face of the statue and of each side of the statue. When I made orthomosaic of statue's face, I used markers as my plane. Is it possible to set a custom coordinate system using markers? The orthomosaic plane for the statue's left and right side needs to be perpendicular to the plane of the table, that is, where the markers are. How do I do that?? The current xy plane is not parallel to the plane of the table.

Thanks

Yes, I printed and used Agisoft markers. I attached two screenshots in my post. On first is the model and position of the markers around it. On second you can see all the scale bars.
Theoretically, once I put the scale bars and click on Update button on top of the reference pane, the model should be properly scaled, right? And after that when I right click on the model and export it to .stl file it should still be properly scaled, right?
I can't find what went wrong here....

Hello Orsat,

You can get this information for the georeferenced chunks from the generated report file.

Problem solved,
Thanks Alexey

General / Calculate average camera height above ground level
« on: June 27, 2016, 03:01:28 PM »
Hello everyone,

I am working on a data set of about 300 images. During the photoshot the drone was controlled in manual mode so there was no fixed above ground level height, it was flown and images were taken in radnom height over the site.
None of the images has geotag. I used 6 ground control points with known coordinates for georeferencing the dense point cloud.
I need the information of average camera height above ground level. Is there a way to determine each camera's vertical distance to the ground?
Thanks.

Cheers

General / Model not properly scaled when exported to .stl
« on: June 25, 2016, 08:29:07 PM »
Hello everyone,

I made a textured 3D model of a small 1m statue in Photoscan. I placed Photoscan targets around the model while taking photos. I measured distance between them and used them to add scales in Photoscan after the 3D model was complete. I added 5 scales and the errors were about 0,5cm for most of them. I was careful to enter the values in correct units.
The problem is - when I export the 3D model to .stl format and open it in my 3d-Tool FreeViewer V12 the scale is completely messed up and the model dimensions are abut 1000 times smaller. It measures about 1 mm high now.
Do you have idea where is the issue and can you recommend some good software for viewing .stl files?

Thanks
