General / Re: Dense point cloud to Autocad

Hi barrubba,

please export the dense point cloud as LAS. Then convert the LAS with Autodesk ReCap to RCP. You do not need to pay for the ReCap PRO version, the basic conversion to RCP is free.

I am not able to export the Dense Point Cloud in e57 format with Point Attributes "Color" and/or "Normal". Other formats work fine here. Version 1.8.4 works also fine.

Works perfectly now. Thanks!  :)

Too late... :)

I have set up a smaller project with 3 images.

Attached are the tiles.xml files in the different Metashape versions.

The tiles.xml of version 1.8.2 is shortened, but shows the problem.

I use Windows 10 Pro.

I setup a Metashape project with 128 images in version 1.8.2 and save it as test.psx.

I open text .psx in version 1.7.6 and export the tiled mesh as Agisoft Tile Archive "test_1_7_6.zip" (Format PLY).
The file size is 128 MB. 7 second duration.

I open text .psx in version 1.8.2 and export the tiled mesh as Agisoft Tile Archive "test_1_8_2.zip" (Format PLY).
The file size is - after 7 seconds - 128 MB. Progress bar at 100%. Now the memory runs full and after 20 minutes the export is ready. The file size is now 5.9 GB.

I unpack both archive files. *.ply/*.jpg and *.dat are equal. But not the tiles.xml: 146 kB in 1.7.6 but 5785012 kB in 1.8.2! I am not able to open such a large xml file.

Attached the project information (Project settings 1_7_6.txt); the *.dat and *.xml of the "test_1_7_6.zip" archive.

General / Issue when exporting a tiled model in 1.8.2

This error occurs as of version 1.8:

- Align images (128 x 12MP images/high)
- Save project
- Calculate tiled model (Medium, Tile size 1024, Smooth)
- Save project
- Export tiled model (Agisoft Tile Archive (*.zip)/PLY)

--> Export function stops at 100% and the memory runs completely full (up to 108GB RAM). After 20 minutes the export function is ready. Agisoft viewer crashes while loading the resulting zip file.

Version 1.7.6 works correctly.

Feature Requests / Re: Upright orientation

I think the computation of a good estimation of the worlds up-vector from cameras + orientation tags is not so complicated. ReCap Photo does this. Capturing Reality does this. Pix4D does this. And: it is very helpfully.

+1 from my side.

Hello Packy_GIS,

a nearly perfect solution you can find here:

http://us.faro3dsoftware.com/CAD/Products/PointSense/3D_Laser_Scanner_Heritage.php
http://www.autodesk.de/products/autocad/free-trial

With "FARO PointSense Heritage 17.5" you can import your Agisoft PhotoScan project (*dense* point cloud and oriented images, no mesh) into AutoCAD and then you can compute an image of the unwrapped surface (wall).

I know both packages are very expensive - but you can use the 30 day free trial period.

Try Autodesk ReMake

https://remake.autodesk.com/about

it is free for presentation of hires meshes.
