I have the same situation With my 3DConnexion SpaceMouse Enterprice. No functionallity in Agisoft, only zoom in and out. Have anyone at all managed to make this work, and what functions are supported?

Hi 

Does anyone know of any methods/software that can handle such a large amount of data, to be able to create a timelapse video from Orthomosaics? I have a project where I want to have regular flights over the same large area and see the changes over time.

Thanks, most of that are already in my normal workflows, so it should be OK You helped me with the rolling shutter issue in another thread, so that's been thoroughly researched the past couple of weeks, I see that more and more people are becoming aware of the issue.

I work in a UAV company were we have all required licences and follow local regulations. Sadly, I see a lot of operators who doesn't follow  local regulations.

When you re-import a merged pointcloud, and create a mesh from this, will you be able to create textures from the original images to this new mesh since they are already in the project? And will this have any effect whatsoever, compared to just using the raw pointcloud from AS?

Hi there.

I'm wondering if someone have a few tips and tricks on how to plan a mission to scan a large urban area with lots of buildings?

I know this is a complex task, I have experience with regular mapping missions and how to scan and proccess such areas without any complex or tall structures. I've also done some single buildings with OK results. I've tried a few training missions with complex structures and processed some of them, but the models gets a lot of noise. I recon it's the data collected that needs to be better, the workflow in Agisoft is not a problem I guess.

I've read a couple of other threads here on Agisoft, and some guides from other websites, but I'm struggling to find the best workflow for this type of mission. A regular mapping, even with over 90% overlap simply won't cut it. The building facades won't get any points so I need oblique/tilted photos. The problem is how to capture these photos and how close to the buildings. I've tried to add a large circle with angled photos, but this is not enough to get details, and just adds a lot of noise to the model.

Would it be a good way to fly with a slighty forward tilted camera, and fly the mission 2-4 times in diffrent directions? Do I need to circle every single building to get the best results? Or maybe start off with a large circle tilted towards center, and add several other circles towards the center?  I'll attach a screenshot from Google Earth (Even they make good 3D models from urban areas)

Try fit rolling shutter, the X5S camera is BAD for photogrammetry. If you want to get much better results, buy an X4s or at least fly sloooow or even better if you stop at every photo shot.

This was the answer! I did not notice that the rolling shutter option had moved to the camera optimization tab in version 1.4.0, so it was unchecked. When enabled, my average error dropped down to an average of 0.037 which is within limits. Thank you!

Interesting, can you elaborate why this is the case with the X5S? We recently upgraded from an Inspire 1 with X5R and are satisfied with the raised image quality this gets us. Are the X4S better than both of theese in that matter? When that is said, we never had accuracy issues with the X5R...

Also some of your erroneous GCPs are on the edge of the project, so maybe too few projections for them? Try re-arranging control points and check points. Still though, is there a possibility to have errors in your coords from the GPS? Did you survey by RTK, maybe you have one or two rogue observations? Finally why not using 40k and 10k for key point and tie point limit?

Personally I'm suspecting that you have a couple or more wrong GCP coords, try selecting a minimum number of GCPs and then adding slowly the rest until you spot the problematic ones.

I've checked all my GCP on the CS10 unit, and they all had at least 5 recorded RTK positions and all with maximum error of 0.0025, while most of them was below this.

I'll try to remove some of them, but do I have to reload the project before every try, or can i just uncheck all - and check one by one and optimize between every one?

I first alligned the photos at High with normal point limits, but raised it up to highest and raised the tie point limits to try to improve accuracy, but the results were the same.

Hi there.

I've been having some trouble with my latest UAV survey work where I've been getting high marker errors on most of my GCP's. I've been searching through the community and found a lot of useful tricks and have optimized my workflow, but unfortunately I got the same results with high errors. The latest attempt was With SAV's optimized workflow (http://www.agisoft.com/forum/index.php?topic=7851.msg37494#msg37494) for UAV survey, which is pretty similar to my own workflow that I've created from your tutorials and community reading.

Aircraft in use:
DJI Inspire 2 X5S 15mm lens. 954 images.

GCS in use:
Leica GS08 Antenna with CS10 hanheld unit, survey grade accuracy. 23 GCP placed.

I've been doing some other projects with this setup without any problems.

It seems like the biggest problem is that the altitude from the DJI photos is not correct. We flown aprox 80m, but the image description says negative 2-4m. But the photos still allign fine so I guess this sould not affect the accuracy as long as we're using GCP? But still, when I add the GCP markers, the errors I get is aprox the same as the diffrence in height (70-75m in error). When I linked the markers to the photos and "updated" the error gets down to a couple of meters, when I hit "optimize" (with standard parameters) the error gets lowered to more normal values, between 3-25cm, but unfortunately most of them above 5cm which is too high. The photos are pretty good, no problems with the allignment and I've removed the bad quality photos.

I'm attaching some screenshots and the report generated.

In my last attempt I tried to set the chunk to the same Reference seting as the scan (.laz file) is: WGS84_UTM11N

Hello obw,

The fix will be included in the next 1.4.0 update.

It seems that for some reason the provided LAZ file doesn't contain the information regarding the coordinate system.

Now it would be possible to select the coordinate system in the Import Points dialog (in case the chunk is georeferenced).

I just tried newest build 5650 and I finally managed to import the LAZ file that I provided earlier. Although, it was not possible to select coordinate system on import (not possible to select anything in the import coordinate dialog), and it is not possible to set the bounding box and proceed with any workflow.

When trying to build mesh (source dense cloud) I get the empty region warning. Tried to reset region without luck, tried to zoom out and find the region but can't find it. Do you have any suggestions?

EDIT: Found the bounding box and was able to proccess the data. Was difficult to find though, would be good if it was easier to reset the box when you import a pointcloud. Still can't choose a coordinatesystem when importing the cloud.

Which workflow do you suggest if let's say I want to create a thin model with this workflow, but still have markers and scale bars? I have a propeller blade I want to create a scaled model of.

EDIT: Think I got it, doesn't really change anything. Added markers and scale after model was finished and did another alignment and update, and it seems like it's working.

Appreciate it and I will try it immediately! Is there a more specific reason that the previous 50 pair limit got lifted? I mean,  can selecting more pairs lead to visibly greater results but only in certain cases, like say small object modeling?

For some projects, like building scanning from the copter (also with a lot of overlap) the limit caused the dense cloud reconstruction artifacts along the building corners.

Can anyone please confirm whether or not this will reduce the True Ortho artefacts near buildings/objects? It seems like this should. Longering the processing time but increasing the quality is definitely interesting.

Is this new in this Version 1.4, or was the number of pairs lifted in the current stable Version 1.3.4?
