Is there a way to convert agisoft lense data (fx, fy, cx, cy, K1, K2, K3, P1, P2) to the 3DE lens distortion plugin kit values?

It requires (for the most simple "classic" model) :
x Offset
y Offset
Cuvature X
Curvature Y
Anamorphic squeeze

Originally used in the 3D equalizer matchmoving software, it is now available in Cinema 4D (3D modelling), Nuke and even After Effects.

Anyone tried with the new GoPro Hero 3 ?

4K at 15fps might be ok and the price reasonable. You can also sync them with the remote (up to 50).

I concur to an "intermediate VFX version" with axis/coordinate system orientation and maybe better automation/batch processing tools when you want to use video as input and output animated meshes or just depth/disparity map images sequences as an output.

All the technology is here, but it's not really accessible.

On the other hand, I don't need the fancy orthophoto, DEM, georeferencing stuff.

Interesting... I'll have a shot at this...

Yet, since photoscan natively outputs a depth map, it would be great to be able to also batch output this depth sequence.

Actually, a video mode for stereoscan would be enough... :
- Select video sequence right
- Select video sequence left
- Compute disparity map and output depth map to use in After Effects, Nuke, whatever...

Nuke on its own cannot do that. You have to add the ocula plugin suite to get this functionality, and the plugin alone costs around 7000 Euros + price of Nuke... (which I don't have yet).

I've had a rather encouraging start by setting a couple of stereo pairs by hand and retrieving the depth maps in After effects for a sequence, but to do it wor a whole sequence is incredibly tedious.

It may be possible to do in the pro version through python scripting, but as I said I only have the standard version.

I'm a happy user of Photoscan Standard, but also a video fx artist and I was wondering if there was anyway to create a special version/mode of Photoscan to specially deal with stereo videos and only outputting the depthmap/disparity as another video (3D mesh would probably be overkill at that stage).

I see the math and all the building blocks are here already in Photoscan : selecting stereo pairs and creating depth maps but the workflow isn't adapted to video (25fps x 2 eyes : 50 frames per second to match/solve/retrieve by hand)

Ideally a plugin for Aftereffects and such would be great, but a nice and simple standalone app (or a special mode in photoscan) would certainly be a great step forward.

With more and more affordable 3D camcorders and bigger 3D productions, there's definitely a market for that. I know I would pay a premium for that.

Here's an example.

I shot a 180° head scan from 10 photos, shot in daylight with no makeup or polarized filter to .

The reconstruction (smooth/High/filter 20%) was exported to Zbrush as an OBJ.

In Zbrush I cleaned it up and aligned it with a head model I already had with good UV and topology and then projected the geometry onto the clean mesh.

It was my first attempt, and it did a very good job overall, except in the places where the target model had overlapping geometry (most obvious in the lip corner region). I need to fix the target model a bit, and then it should be alright.

Thanks for the answer and the picture.

That's more in line with the later results I now have, except that I'm using "smooth" reconstruction usually because I can't seem to  fill the holes in photoscan after an "exact" reconstruction (yet... ).

I'm using Zbrush to smooth the last bits and reproject the detail on a clean topology. I also noticed that reflections on the skin can really make or break the results. I'm going to invest in some light make-up to matifiy the brightest parts of the forehead and nose.

Hey Kegg, sorry to hijack the thread, but that's a very clean mesh that you have here... Was this straight out of Photoscan or is this already a cleaned-up version ?

My I dare to ask what setup/settings you used ? (number of photos, resolution, meshing/smoothing parameters...).

My early test, while encouraging, are nowhere as clean as yours...

May I add also, if feasible :

Ability to stop the reconstruction process (for example at the end of the depth map stage, o during mesh generation...) and be able to save the progress to resume another time without starting back from scratch ?

It would allow for heavy computations to be made across various days without having to let the computer run 24/7 in one go, with everything that could go wrong in between...

I'm using the standard version and it's great but what I would like to see improved  :

- Scene axis reorientation : when the up axis is sideways etc...
- Manual volume selection reorientation...

Better "cleaning" tools :
- Feehand manual selection and point deletion at calibration and mesh stages
- Better hole filling tools : I don't really understand the current system or setting and it doesn't appear to work for me... I'd like to be able to select a zone of the mesh and fill any holes within that selection.
- "select connected" : select all the polygons connected to the one I clicked on, so that I can see what parts or the model are "floating" and delete them...

Thanks for this great software.
