Feature Requests / Color Picker Selector for point cloud
« on: March 17, 2016, 06:54:02 PM »
That could be really apreciated!

A color picker you can use to color select points in the point cloud with two treshold sliders for hue and saturation...

Usage:
For example, if you want to scan something with blue background and you get some blue points in the middle of your pointcloud.

When you scan a building to delete sky colors easily...

THANX!

Yes we tried it... it works...but...you don't get a nice result mostly because of the image distortions you will get mesh distortions, but haven't tried with the last Gopro...

Im sorry I misunderstood...  ;D

It was to show what can be done, in the video we used the mudbox trial but there are many options...

http://www.autodesk.com/products/mudbox/free-trial
http://store.steampowered.com/app/100980/
http://pixologic.com/sculptris/
http://pixologic.com/zbrush/

But The final result we show in the video its pure photoscanner, no retouching...

General / Showcase / Gallery Section in the forum

This is a proposal for a new forum section for everyone to show their works.
Why don't we have that? Can be interesting to collect all the finished or even WIP works in one place, so we can see other people stuff...

:)

« on: May 22, 2013, 02:17:09 PM »
I think it is a MAX number of objects limitation, because when you don't use the Collapse option and you have like 60.000 triangle objects in the scene it can't really update the display in real time, but when you collapse them and it is only one object you can work easily with it.

This is the first version of the script. What i'm doing here is creating every point and then move them to their positions and in the end collapsing them all.

In the next version I will import every point and collapse it all at once, so there will be a maximum of only two objects in the scene, the point cloud and the new point...

Hope It works better! :)

Hi everybody!

I just played a little bit with the maxscript and created a LIDAR importer into MAX
I'm so glad this worked!!

Here is the Link:
http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/lidar-loader

It takes some time and sometime it looks like a Crash but it comes back after a while...
I've been able to import 60.000 points into triangles in max... (I recommend checking the Collapse)

Usually I do export points from Agisoft without color nor normal info, just the XYZ
And then import that into the maxscript, I'll try some new stuff but the basic import is working now...
I'll post here the updates

If you try it let me know!!

EDIT: ONLINE

I just made two test...

The first i took pictures with my camera Upside Down (weird  :o) and that gives me a very well oriented scene

And second I take normal pictures with my camera and then I turn the pictures 180 degrees in any software before PhotoScan...And I get also a well Oriented Scene....

In both cases the software gives me the model up...

am I being lucky with the absolutely arbitrary coordinate system ?

Hello navalguijo,

Standard edition has not any tools for orienting model or scaling, thus the coordinate system is absolutely arbitrary - the software doesn't know where is "up" and "down".

I understand that, but...I take all my pictures Up but I allways get my scanners Down...so...it doesn't look arbitrary :S

In fact, once i took vertical pictures instead horizontal pictures and i got the model lying on the ground plane.... (so turning my camera 90 degrees made the model turn 90 degrees)

But when i make the photo align, and i open my point cloud for the first time (inside photoscan) the scene looks upside down as well....

???

Here's just a simple question.

Im working with the standard version. I've read that in the pro you can use the scripting for change the pivot of the scan...

The thing is that almost every scanner i've made is exported Upside Down... (when i open it in Max or Maya for example).

Im having a workflow between agisoft and other software going back and forward and this upside down stuff makes me work uncomfortable or in the best case i have to be turning the model all the time in the other softwares...

The question is WHY? Why is it upside down if I am making straight pictures? is it easier to calculate the 3dmesh turning the pictures around? hehe i don't think so...
