Sorry, I've forgotten to Quote it. It is all about Tiled model failure.

Hi Alexey,

Thank's for your answer.
1. Yes "Fine level task subdivision" was checked
2. The log file is attached to this message.
I've noticed that sometimes it works and sometimes not. Cannot figure out what is the trigger.
Best, Darko

I've just tried to do the Dense Cloud and Mesh.. Nothing works with the same message in that project.

Hello Darko,

Please check if the same issue is observed in 1.7.0 pre-release update, build 11429.

Hello Aleksey,
Unfortunately the problem remains even in the latest version, build 11429. With the other sample I have tried to make locally first and it bailed out with the same message and later I have tried to delegate the job to the cloud and after 15 minutes it reached 51% and stopped there for couple of hours. It ended with the message "Connection Closed (RemoteHostClosedError).
So I just exited it and tried the sample I did before and started the Log. But the result was the same. The Log file is attached to this message.

Can you, please, add the Croatian datum HVRS71?

 :'( Hi Dmitry
I've run into the problem with the Metashape 1.7.0. Build 11340 - WIN/PRO version. On some projects it makes the Tiled model while on some it exits immediately with the message :
Assertion 23910910010 failed at line 54
It seems that it appeared after changing the Region properties like resizing, moving etc.
What is the solution?
Best, Darko

Should I mention that the Tiled Model was started right after the Alignment process with the Depth Maps option set to Ultra High and Faces to Low while the pixel size was left as it was.

Hi Aleksey,
There is no OpenSSL 1.0.x just 1.1.x version. The other problem is that it asks for a donation and doesn't accept donation from my country. What can I do to get it running?

Thanks Arie,

It's been very helpful. I wasn't aware of the depth maps reconstruction at all. I am reprocessing some older jobs to see what's the difference now. Depth maps are giving nicer results.

Hi,
My equipment is PPK solution with Sony A6000, 25mm fix focus, fix aperture, but, CALIBRATED lens. My orthophotos have good accuracy of 5 cm or better (5 cm ground resolution). Try it for yourself, just reprocess some old job and take every second line. You'll be surprised.

Hi Arie,

The problem is, as you mentioned, the normals and the disperse point clout that cannot be better because of the moving LIDAR nature. The problem that I have with the Photo point clouds is that it doesn't see trough the tree canopy and the walls are not visible. In this case I am missing at least one flight on lower altitude around the object of interest (POI). Anyway, that would not solve the visibility problem.
The Lidar penetrates trough the canopy and wall has some points, not too many, but the plane is defined for the model which I don't know how to make easily. Whatever is suggested as a solution takes a lot of work with software that I am not used to work with.
I am looking for some EASY and fast solution to make a proper STL which can be printed on 3D printer.

Darko

It works..
Demand for the photogrammetry was 60% longitudal and 25% side overlap before that mumbo-jumbo digital photogrammetry that we have today. That's from my old books I've learned that from. To get the 3D solution you need the same point on at least 2 photos. You have that all in one flight strip only, so, why would you need side overlap at all? It is needed since the strips have to join the same model and 30% is sufficient. Try it. Take some older data with more overlap and process every odd flight line. You'll get similar results.

General / Town 3D Model
« on: September 18, 2020, 11:09:53 AM »
Hi,

I am trying to make the best possible town 3D model in TLS format. So far I had a nice result with Sony 16mm lens (A6000) and about 80% overlap in both directions. The ground resolution was 5 cm and photos  taken from nadir. The problem I have is that I am not allowed to fly on such high altitude any more because of the new regulations and since then I never succeeded to get so nice model with good facades.

I have tried to combine the nadir photos with leaned, side taken ones, but the results were never that good.

Does anyone have a suggestion, regarding photo sessions as well as processing part, how to get the best possible model with sharp edges and good facades?

General / Re: RTK and PPK with P4RTK for mapping
« on: September 18, 2020, 10:34:50 AM »
Hi,

JMR is right about the camera calibration. Make your own calibration field with as many as you can GCP-s. Make sure what is the precision for your camera coordinates (should be about 2 cm). Collect your image coordinates for GCP-s. Set the precision for your GCP-s to the same value of 2-5 cm. Make the alignment and save your Camera calibration in file for your future use.

Next time when you have your real field data and photos before the alignment go to the Tools, Camera calibration, load values and FIX THEM ALL. That should solve your problems.

I don't have any experience with P4RTK but I am using my own design and PPK with Sony A6000 and 25mm fix focus, fix aperture lens and this works fine.

Good luck,
Darko

Just to produce the Orthophoto, even 30% is sufficient. Not good for 3D models, for that you need 80% both ways. Of course, that stands for the regular lenses, not too wide (20-25 mm on Sony A6000).

Thank's Arie,
That was helpful. Now I know where is the problem and I just have to find the best solution for the normals. The lidar scan was done by the flying lidar and the vegetation layer was removed by Global Mapper Lidar option. Seems like I'll have to learn a lot about the Cloud Compare now. Since now we have been using the lidar scan just for the ground surveys and it is the first time we started to play with the 3D models from the lidar point cloud. The idea was to make a solid printable model out of it. Any suggestions?

Best regards,
Darko
