General / 30day trial on Mac terminal registration
« on: May 28, 2019, 02:55:45 PM »
hi
while I figure out my Metashape crashes which takes almost a week now to investigate.
https://www.agisoft.com/forum/index.php?topic=10921.0
I need a backup solution so I was trying to register a 30day trial on my MacBook Pro 2017 in the mean time so that I can get some stuff done.
however when I chose the option I get an error can't write license file
when I usually activate the license on the Mac I use a terminal command so I have it automated but there seems to be no -argument to install the demo.
anyone with some advice
thanks

Bug Reports / crash on dense cloud creation
« on: May 22, 2019, 03:33:26 PM »
hi
I work on a new machine which used to work ok for two weeks or so but now I get crashes on dense point generation.
it is a problem of which I found some examples here but mostly older
its the filtering and then it crashes to the desktop and once it crashed all together.
it is a Nvidia GeForce RTX2080-O8G card and as I understand in the older forum posts even if its a CPU work they usually had the issue after changing the graphics card or could solve it by changing it.
i have deleted and reinstalled all the graphics drivers and trying now
crash report was not generated I got a message that it crashed but that it could not access the crash dump?
i have the log file however wich is very long...

thank you
frank

General / DEM creation problems with to merged point clouds
« on: April 13, 2017, 06:55:18 PM »
Hi
i created a model from to chuks with a core model being in a higher resolution and a extended area model ...
now i have prepared clasefied and cut the point clouds leaving a hole in the overview and a excactly fitting core area to fill it
in the model view it looks very nice and there is no real overlap and noise in the cut area it looks realy nice
however when i create a DEM or mesh the different resolution of the clouds semmes to mess up the processing and it looks wrong
the center area is displayed correctly and everything is fine
the surounding is displayed just very corse mch worse then the actual resolution in the point cloud maybe 5% of the points seems to be used
this is the case also when i create with the option use all points insted of just the ground points
any idea how i can force ps to use this points as well..

here is the point cloud view

and here the DEM

Feature Requests / Point cloud clasification by shape file
« on: April 12, 2017, 10:43:53 PM »
hi
iam currently working on a lot of clasifications while the technique has improved a lot here and iam usualy happy with the results i have to manualy adjust quite a lot.
so i thought maybe it is posible to clasify outside of agisoft using the ortho image or other availible sourves in GIS such as multispectral clasification or simple datasets such as house outlines and stuff like that... you know all the data that is already availible.
for excample in the scale i use i could use satelite data to idetyfy trees and big bushes automaticaly and would create a buffer in gis and export it into a shapefile
then i would do the same with my road and building data.
i could then idealy import that shapefile in Agisoft and have all the points classified by 2D location.
also it would be great if i have to re do the same area again and again... maybee even alowing to safe the clasification areas from agisoft for reuse and export them into a shape file ....
so is there a way to do this right now and i just missed it or could this be implemented in future releases
thanks a lot
frank

General / force DEM on ground control
« on: January 21, 2016, 01:12:45 PM »
hi
i have a project where the reference pane gives nice values for my ground control points usualy errors around 10cm (flight heigt was 500m) i have optimized the allignment but still the DEM created gives me on many ground control points elevation deviations of up to a meter. i understand that photogrammetry is limited in accuracy and that i can only get so much accuracy out of it but i am confused by the error values (and teh estimates) since they look ok and as expected but the final result Mesh and DEM is different from that estimated values in the control.
is there a wasy to force the model onto the gcp
thanks
frank
edit i was cheking it a bit more closely and it seems the errors are in the range they where before optimisation so it looks like the allignment was not realy changed with the optimization even if the values in the reference pane got better

Bug Reports / collor problems with orthomosaics
« on: January 07, 2016, 10:34:15 PM »
hello
i thought, after i found several topics and postet my own experiences in the general section, it is now time to cal this a bug.
the orthomosaic function in the new version is just not working as it is suposed to do at all.
mosaic settings are hardly usable at all. i get this strange overly bright areas. usualy it is allways there when just using a sparse point cloud for the modeling
but sometimes (50%) it is also still there with a dense cloud. ususaly it is ok in average mode but that comes with its own problems...
in all this instances it is old models which i just want to export the results after i spend weeks on processing. i should not have switched to the new version before fisishing.
it is very irritating please do something about it since iam not the only user reporting this issues it is not me but the software i suppose.
the new version has some very nice features and i like the way things are developing but with the DEM creating and orthomosaic colloring problems it is hardly usable for me right now
best regards
frank

General / DEM generation mesh based using more than mesh
« on: January 05, 2016, 02:33:42 AM »
hi everyone
still getting used to the new version... i was just ceating a bunc of dem's and told photoscan to use the Mesh to do so
works good but the resulting dem is much larger than my mesh which i cut quite a lot
the dem looks like it is using the initial mesh extend but not its data and conects my cut core mesh to this extends which looks awfull
i was trying to deactivate theinterpolation extrapolation but it is grayed out ...
any advice, in the old version only a dem of the remaining object was created...

hi there
would it be posible to have the create point in the ortho section to be a continous mode
so if i create a point now i have to go back and select the comand again and set a new point this is very slow on many points also there is no hotkey and i have to go back to the icon every time
thanks

General / recomended setup for amazon ec2 / network drive
« on: June 07, 2015, 11:29:02 PM »
hi
iam curently experimenting with amazon ec2 cloud computing
but i have some questions agisoft does not recognize and open files i have on a ftp server it is conectet in exporer as a drive (but is has n drive letter)
agisoft can open the psz file and shows jst fine but all the image paths are not working also i can not create a new project with importing photos if i add photos there is just nothing happening and if i want to add a folder it says unvaild path
so what setings do i have to use to make this work i can download all the images onto the virtual machine but this takes time and bandwith so i whant to use a network drive which i have 10gigs on it anyway.
thanks
frank

edit: i use windows server for now to get me started but i plan on evtualy using linux on these machines is it possible to use several of thes instances with network processing.

General / heat imaging and photoscan
« on: May 05, 2015, 02:04:22 PM »
hello
iam right now thinking about testing heat imaging with photoscan
i was looking at this device and was thinking about creating orthoimages
http://www.flir.com/instruments/content/?id=66732
i dont need much detailed geometry since the resolution is not great at all but i was wondering how the sensor works and if it could work with photoscan
anyone with expertise or sample images of that kind?

Python and Java API / split in chunks.py
« on: May 04, 2015, 09:56:07 AM »
hello i was trying to get this script to run...
http://wiki.agisoft.com/wiki/Split_in_chunks.py
however if i start it nothing happens.
what  i did : copied the text from the website and pasted into a textfile then saved as chunks.py
in photoscan with my project open i use: tools> run scipt> select the file and since i dont have any idea about the augument tried that with different setings but no effect
there is no information of anything going on in the console just as if i had done nothing.
anyone could give a short overview on the operations of this script or alternatives to split my project in managable sized regular chucks
thanks
frank

hi all
iam have just realised that the script disable close cams seems not to work with the current edition of photoscan
i get an error code  in the console:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "E:/PS101_disable_close_cams.py", line 5, in <module>
    chunk = doc.activeChunk
AttributeError: 'PhotoScan.Document' object has no attribute 'activeChunk'

anyone have an idea how to solve this?
thanks
frank
