Feature Requests / Re: DNG format
« on: September 01, 2016, 12:21:08 PM »
as mentioned in a other topic i would love to have agisoft suport the files as they are edited because this would save me lots of disk space.
right now i have to edit the dng and then export as tiff and they are HUGE even compared to the DNG about 125mb per image
i have to correct for vigneting since otherwise i have dark stripes on the model and it wouzld be great if agisoft could suport that edits in the DNG file

hi everyone,
i recently discovered a problem withn the current version, iam not longer able to export orthoimages created as curent view i need to do this fo the sections (aka elevations) of my trench. i used to export them as current view orthoimage and then go from there now it starts the export but no file i created also no error message :-(

with moving things like trees in the wind it is worth trying lower allignment settings like medium

photoscan should work just fine with 18mm if it is 18mm equivalent.
i once had luck with some 5mm shots which worked better after preprocessing them in lightroom but usualy 18 should be no problem

+1 named views like in acad would be great

wy would you process them seperatly i wouzld say try process all the images with one chuck and they should allign just fine by expirence
i was able to allign different scans in one file even from different years and different cameras
frank also try to get some GCP on the sides by total station or theodolith since your accuracy will be much better if you dont have the gcp only on the ground

well i dont know the project specifications but i would say that is still good and also its not all about GSD especialy if you work terrestrial long range you will have lots of other problems such as refraction and the accuracy is limited by these as well.

i was about to write the same a better sensor (larger and higher resolution) would be better since you could reduce the focal legth
if you go with a 24mp full frame or even a medium format with 50+ 60mp you could come down to better levels
and also i would sugest as mentioned before to increase base distance

General / Re: Images acquired from high distance

i agree the large zoom (focal legth) is not good for multi image photogrammetry also the base should be bigger i would go for 80-100 m

i was using the dng files for the first time a few days ago from my ricoh gr
the results are realy better than the JPG (i have created two models one from the ricos jpg and one from the dng)
i had high contrast in the model and the shadow areas in the dng version are great in the jps it is wavy and not clean
however i need to use some corections (vignetting) which is quite strong on the ricoh in some settings and if i correct for that in Lightroom and export as dng it is not taken into consideration by PS at least not in the previews
if i open the exported file in camera raw or rawtherapee it is taken into acount
any way that ps could also use the corrections?

well a gps is not the tool of choice here
i would go with a reflector less capabe total station and shoot in some tatural targets on different levels up the stack
the gps ground points are not good if you need to work 300ft up and probably can not go there or do a gps survey on a wall
but i would definitly go with gcp one way or an other, otherwise you end up with a banana shaped stack

General / Re: Measure volume box only shows cubic meters
« on: June 08, 2016, 09:43:26 AM »
i only use meters s i dont know if this can be changed but i use a conversion app for all kinds of stuff including volume calculations so its not a big deal to convert it manualy
1cft = 0.028316m3

General / Re: Stockpile too short. Not tall enough.
« on: June 07, 2016, 10:35:58 PM »
i would also recomend more GCP esp kin different elevations
also i use flight heights acording to terain difference
so if the pile would be 60ft i would fix my flight height so that the max terain elevation difference is not more than 20% of my my height above ground
in your case 300 ft preferably a bit more
