General / Reason for limiting Tiepoints?

Hello, There is one thing I wonder. Why Limiting Tiepoints? I set my Tiepoint limit to "0" to have no Limit in all my Projects.
Is there any issues with that? What would be a case where I want to set a limit? Why is it set not to "0" by default?

This is a really good Idea and I would pay happily 700-900$ for an Artist Version. The Current price gap between Standard and Pro is much to high. A very important feature for the Artist Version would also be delighting. That feature I would pay alone a couple hundreds $.
I can just not justify the Pro Version as I use Agisoft not as Frequent as a proffesional Geo meassurement company or so. As a 3D Artist or Studio you need Photogrammetry from time to time but not Daily. An Artist Version with the Features aimed only for 3D Asset creation is highly demanded.

I also think the delight feature should be included in Standard. Delight is a feature that is especially usefull for 3D Asset creation which is the target usergroup for the standard Version. Limiting it to pro is not a wise choice I would say.

General / AMD Cards support on Mac

Hello,
is there a plan to fix the issue with AMD Cards? I have my MacPro here which was a heavy investment and cant use Photoscan 1.3. Thats a serious issue. I would like to know if there is plans to fix the issue to make further purchase decisions.

That looks pretty good. Very good overlap because I see hardly any missing regions.

You could try and manually delete some of the floating outlier tie-points to clean it up further, but it's not explicitly necessary .

Yes, I have already deleted some floating points. The only problem area is the hands as they are reflective.

I'd definitly go for the project with the lower RMS error.

The max error refers to outlier tie-points that are most likely irrelevant.

Got a screenshot of your tie-points?

Ok Thanks. I will stick to the optimized version than. Here is a screencap of the Tie Pointcloud. Its pretty dense still after filtering with 900k points. I guess that should be good ;-)

General / RMS Reprojection Error vs. Max reprojection Error

Hello, I made scan with 577 Cameras. I did as always some filtering and applied a optimizes Cameras.
Now I have a much less RMS reprojection Error. But the Max reprojection Error got worse.
I wonder what is the reason here. Should I prefer the optimized version with less RMS reprojection or should I keep the unoptimized version with less Max Reprojection Error?

General / Bigger Reprojection Error after Optimization

Hello,
I have another Issue. After Doing the Reprojection Error Filtering (gradual selection) I run the Optimize Cameras. The Problem is that the Reprojection Error is much higher after that. It goes from 0.2 to 1.9!!
What can cause that? Should I better not do the optimizes step than?

General / Gradual Selection: Image count selects almost all points

Hi,
I have a questions about the Image Count filter in gradual selection. I make photos of objects at the size of a bottle. I use many images....100-200 21 MP images with a fullframe camera.
I get fairly high number of matching points (around 300.000). Anytime I try to use the Image Count filter of 2 almost all Points get selected. Like 250.000 of 300.000. Is that normal? I guess its not good to filter that many points for optimization.
What am I doing wrong? Do I need even more overlap? I do Turntable Fotos which I mask. and I take about 36 Images per round.

Any Help would be very welcome.

Hello holgar,

I can suggest to exclude (disable after alignment, for example) the overview images that contain the whole object in the frame, if there are sufficient close-up images with good overlap. Otherwise, such general view images will have overlap with a lot of close-up images and the depth filtering will take a lot of time, while the presence of such images doesn't seem to have great effect on improving mesh or texture quality, due to lower effective resolution.
But since I'm not sure about your shooting scenario and camera positions, I don't know if there are may similar images, but you can check it and if there are quite a lot, it might be the most probable reason of the long processing time.

I use a turntable with the same camera distance for all images. Maybe next time I try to make less overlapping and see how that works.

If you can provide us the project file and the dataset for internal tests, we can check the memory consumption during dense cloud generation step.

High memory consumption and long processing time may be related to the excessive overlap, when there are a lot of overlapping images of different scale. For example, when some zones are present on dozens of photos, usually it may happen if the object is fully present on multiple images.

Hi Alexey, unfortunatly its a high confidential project and I can not share Data. I did not know that more overlap causes more memory consume. Will consider this in my next Projects. I thought the more overlap the better and choose to take better more than less images. My overlap in the Chunkinfo is at 3.2. Do you think that is to high? What would be a good vallue?

sorry, I think I found the issue. My Memory monitor is showing "incative Memory" as free. So it seems there is a lot of reserved memory for Photoscan which is not actually used but also not free. This causes swapping. I am not so into the technical stuff like this. But I have the feeling Photoscan should not be swapping if there is so much inactive memory?

I am at the moment calculating 188 18MP Images with Ultrahighsetting. My Computer with 64GB went into swapping. I really wonder why. My Memory monitor tells me I have 18GB free memory. I have the feeling something is wrong with the latest Beta.

What type of the object you are reconstructing and at what step the processing is stuck? Is it already depth maps filtering?

Maybe you can provide the screenshot of performance tab of the task manager (if you are on Windows) and current console output (if it's still open now).

Hi Alexey, I attached Screenshots from my aktivity monitor software ( i am on osx). The Swapping happens pretty early in the Denseclould generation. But I am not sure now at which point. The Progressbar is not really reflecting the reality. It stayed around Six Hours remaining for several Hours. Now I am at 18.5 Hours.

I am scanning a sneaker. I have very very sharp images. I set the Keypoint limit to 500.000 and the tiepoint limit to 0.
The result of alignment is very accurate and I get 1.9 Million Tiepoints (unfiltered). The resulting Densecloud will have 210 Million Points ( I know that because I proccesed the images already. I just forgot to adjust the boundingbox so a little from the top of the shoe was cut of. Thats why I need to process again :-()

General / Which Optimize Settings (without GCP)

Hi, I am generating 3D models without any GPC (I have Standardversion). So my Workflow is that I filter the unacurate points from the SparseCloud with gradual selection and than I do Optimize Camera.
Now I am not sure which settings I need there. I have read that k4 should be used for wide lenses. I use 50-70mm so I leave that option off. Also I am shooting at a Studio-Lighning indoor and I have very sharp Images to  begin with.

But what about the other Parameter? In which cases do I need which parameters. Is it possible to explain this without technical language but with practical Scenarios?
