If the cameras were all mounted as in my markup of your image, the ambiguity (180 deg rotation) of the cameras in relation to the subject would be eliminated. I think some of the warping could be attributed to this issue.

... and you would get best results from using RAW image format, not JPG. You would need to look at what cameras are available within your budget that can save this format.

CHDK can be used with some of the Canon point and shoot to get RAW images from the camera so you wouldn't necessarily need to spend $ on a pricier DSLR model.

Are these the full resolution images, not cropped or reduced?

Hi Ron,

I saw the pics in your post, I meant the actual images from the cameras you are using to build the model.

Hi Ron,

Can you upload the pictures?
Are the cameras all parallel?

Samir,

Maybe someone that uses Pro can help here to let you know if it is possible.
If you don't have Pro, I think you will need another application (ie. CloudCompare) to generate the lines.

Are you using "Pro" version, orthophoto would work for this.
If not, CloudCompare might work.

I believe in "Pro" version is possible to extract contour lines, but maybe that only works on DEM.

You could also use Cloud Compare.

If this will be used to predict interference/collision with the robot, its possible the scaling uncertainty would be below the accuracy you require.

Typically the scanning would be done with precalibrated equipment (ie laser or structured light system) so model accuracy will be known ahead of time.

You would need to capture clear references that are known to better accuracy than the model needs to be to minimize scaling error.

Hi Heera,

Can you supply some images?

Results from any photogrammetry software will depend on the quality of the images and the surface of the object.

I interpret "trophy" as being a shiny, reflective object. Unless you were able to spray it prior to capture, that will present a major difficulty for any software or light based scanning technology. Laser scanning would suffer the same problem.

I am using Canon Elph 160 (20Mp) with CHDK.
Some support for newer 180 model was started but it is extremely dependent on some changes that were made in production of the camera after initial release. So although the 180 may be easier to find, unless you can get a someone to check the camera version before you buy, or give your money back if it didn't work it may not be a good option.

... either outdated models or I just can't find a supported model that matches what I need.

That is true, and addition of newer models is relatively slow, as essentially its reversed engineered for each model. Its also likely that some models will never be added. However, for the ones it does support it works pretty well, at least for my needs.

I remember a post from a while back that indicated an issue with the geoid that caused some artifacting or blockiness in the exported model.

Can you post some images?

I'm using Standard version only, so hopefully others can give you some specific info.
