Face and Body Scanning / Picture Style Setting
« on: July 14, 2014, 06:33:15 AM »
Hello,

Has anyone tried to adjust the Canon Camera's Picture Style Setting and does it help in getting a better result when using JPEG?

I made some trials in comparing the standard (sharpness 3) and neutral setting (sharpness 0) and I am using 550d with kit lens. The neutral setting gives softer pictures than the standard setting. Interesting, the neutral setting can generate more sparse cloud point than the standard. I repeat the test on body scan and it gives the same result. My implication is: the picture style applied the effect on JPEG after the image compression and therefore some details are lost even in standard mode. Am I correct? :D

Face and Body Scanning / masking an object with background color
« on: June 26, 2014, 11:32:48 AM »
Hello,

Currently I am using background masking function of PS to pick the object images and manually adjust the mask area to avoid missing details. It works great when the object has different color from the background (white). But when someone is wearing a white color t-shirt, it will spend me hours to fix it. No matter how I adjust the threshold, it won't give a good result. Can anyone share how you deal with this situation? Thanks a lot  :)

General / Combining two meshes with textures
« on: May 14, 2014, 07:57:19 PM »
Hi there,

Can anyone recommend the tool that can easily merge two meshes (e.g. obj files with textures) and atlases textures? I can do projection on a combined mesh but some meshes are hard to project.

Thanks :D

Hi there, can anyone share how to setup a stereo pair of camera? Says, what is the typical distance between cameras?, should the cameras be aligned in parallel or at an angle towards the center? Thanks

Face and Body Scanning / point cloud number for a full body scan
« on: December 06, 2013, 09:39:23 AM »
Hello,

Agisoft suggests to have 50+ camera for full body scan. How many points (point cloud, not dense) will be generated typically (says T-shirt + jeans)? Can anyone share your number of cameras and your corresponding point cloud number?

I want to know how the camera numbers affect the overall quality and what is the optimal camera number. Thanks.

General / Investing on a PC
« on: November 01, 2013, 05:36:39 AM »
Hi Folks,

I am planning to invest on a new PC to handle 80+ pics. I want the workflow including generating point cloud, depth reconstruction, generating mesh etc of 500k polygon (with high resolution) can be completed in 20 mins. Here is my current configuration, please feel free to comment:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K,
RAM: 32G RAM,
Video: GTX770  2GB DDR5

Does dual GPU such as 7990 help in this case?

General / Question about chunk alignment and camera position
« on: October 22, 2013, 06:08:20 AM »
I tried to align two chunks (one master of all camera aligned correctly) using camera positions option hoping that the master chunk can fix the camera positions of the second chunk. But it seems there is nothing happen on the second chunk.... Does it mean chunk alignment only does the position alignment of the meshes/ points, not the camera?

For my case, I would like to correct my camera positions of the chunks in reference to the master chunk. Is it possible? Thanks. :D
