3 cam per column in portrait mode 35mm and total 12 column can make reasonable results for stand still pose. 3 extra can put at higher position for head close up

Happy to admit that I may be wrong with people being protective:)
How should I contact Lee for consultancy?

Yes, I want to know too. :)

it always happen when you capture both side of a thin object and the point cloud is not dense enough comparing with the thickness. In your case, can you delete the points inside so the mesh can fill up the volume inside? :)

Hi Foodman,

I think the patent talking about is the SLA 3d printing:

Other than zprinter, there is another brand Cometruejet that works similar to it. Guess it is more cheaper.  :D

I think after 3DS launched the full color cubejet, the industrial grade printer series will move to higher resolution arena.  ;D The currently full color printing has a lot of rooms for improvement and cannot produce detail figurines. Therefore the difference between low cost scanner and high end 3D photography is suppressed.

Face and Body Scanning / Re: Picture Style Setting

Hi David, one thing I was not sure is the meaning of sharpness built in in the camera, I thought it was done before the compression to jpeg. It seems it has to se minimal to get most details though the image is soft. :)

Face and Body Scanning / Picture Style Setting
« on: July 14, 2014, 06:33:15 AM »
Hello,

Has anyone tried to adjust the Canon Camera's Picture Style Setting and does it help in getting a better result when using JPEG?

I made some trials in comparing the standard (sharpness 3) and neutral setting (sharpness 0) and I am using 550d with kit lens. The neutral setting gives softer pictures than the standard setting. Interesting, the neutral setting can generate more sparse cloud point than the standard. I repeat the test on body scan and it gives the same result. My implication is: the picture style applied the effect on JPEG after the image compression and therefore some details are lost even in standard mode. Am I correct? :D

Face and Body Scanning / Re: masking an object with background color
« on: June 26, 2014, 08:13:33 PM »
Hello,

Really there is no easy way.... I also use masking by model and redo the photo alignment. But the mask generated always mask out the rim of the object which I need to adjust manually again.  :(

Face and Body Scanning / masking an object with background color
« on: June 26, 2014, 11:32:48 AM »
Hello,

Currently I am using background masking function of PS to pick the object images and manually adjust the mask area to avoid missing details. It works great when the object has different color from the background (white). But when someone is wearing a white color t-shirt, it will spend me hours to fix it. No matter how I adjust the threshold, it won't give a good result. Can anyone share how you deal with this situation? Thanks a lot  :)

I made a scan of a stuffed toy with short curly hair. Is there anyone who has successfully captured animals with long hair ? ;D

Hi Admir,

I am trying your method but still not success. I try to start with importing two object and texture layers, but then the layers cannot point to the right objects. Would you kindly tell me the workflow? Thanks a lot :D

Hi Admir,

Thanks again. I have a scanned body but the shoe is failed. So I redo scanning on the shoe only, hopping that I can chop the failed shoe and replace by the good one. I am using mudbox at the moment therefore I hope there are some simple ways on these softwares.  :)

my 2 percent input: increase the DoF as others mentioned, avoid smooth surface (e.g. your table) and put other objects near by to help camera position alignment.

This is how I started my experiment before. :)

Hi Admir,
yes exactly, is there any function or plugin in zb or mb that can serve the same function?  Thanks again :)

General / Combining two meshes with textures
« on: May 14, 2014, 07:57:19 PM »
Hi there,

Can anyone recommend the tool that can easily merge two meshes (e.g. obj files with textures) and atlases textures? I can do projection on a combined mesh but some meshes are hard to project.

Thanks :D
