Feature Requests / Autodesk .RCP format support
« on: July 07, 2015, 10:11:55 PM »
I would really like to have a direct export from Agisoft to Autodesk Recap pointcloud format .RCP

Not having to go through one extra program just for converting files to be able to import point cloud data to 3DsMax would be really helpful!

Looks nice Wishgranter! Looking forward to see the mesh aswell :)

The reason I asked about the Hasselblad was mainly if anyone knows or seen much quality difference from "normal" Nikon or Canon cameras.

Have anyone tried photoscanning with Hasselblad higher range cameras? If so, are they automatically supported with photoscan, thinking about setting for lens used etc or do you need to do a an automatic calibration for those things?

Wishgranter, I have an older license for PC so I dont run it on mac. And I rarely (never) use it on any raw photos. I use it only on the generated texture from agisoft. But yes the times you say is about right. An 8K texture takes about 10min that to process. An 4K texture is a couple of minutes.

thats correct driftertravel! From an email I got from tandent on the licensing matter they told me this:

Lightbrush 1.1 Sandbox (Mac)                                                         $99.00
Image size limited to 1000 px

Lightbrush 1.1 Regular (Mac)                                                          $395.00
No image size limits.

Lightbrush 1.1 Professional (Mac)                                                  $895.00
Batch processing and no image size limits.

I use lightbrush on pretty much everything, I agree sure you would get a better result working on raw,I use it on the 16bit tif that agisoft generates, doing it on the photos is too time consuming. To me it's a time saver when doing textures for games, sure if you have clamped areas in shadows/highlights it wont save you.
I often use it when making tilable textures as well, when you sometimes get this soft variations in lighting (upper corner have tiny light variation/blend compared to the bottom left) which makes you texture tile. Instead of trying masking and level this out in photoshop, lightbrush can help me with it.

And when you process an image you get the extracted light/shadow information in a separate image, multiplying that on top of you diffuse in photoshop you get the same result as the original texture, but now you can blend shadows back with opacity or paint back information with masking if you want too.

Yes it's not perfect but, if needed, together with regular photoshop works shadows/highlights etc I usually get what I need.

The annoying part is Tandent decided for some reason to make it mac only, they had PC when I bought it.

I use lightbrush to cancel out shadows/highlights in textures. Works pretty good.

Allegorithimic have AO/shadow exclusions in their bitmaptomaterial 3 software. Don't know how good it does it though.

When it comes to the specular parts/generation I would love to know a good way of generation those aswell :)

General / can I change the scene scale in agisoft standard??
« on: April 21, 2015, 09:35:34 PM »
I have big problems with the scale being so small in agisoft so when send to other software like mudbox or mari for painting it makes the file hard to work with.

Is it possible to scale the agisoft scene in standard editon including the cameras or is there a a work around to solve the issue?

Tried scaling the whole scene in 3dsmax but that messed up my cameras for projection in mudbox.

Hi!

I have generated a dense point cloud data in Agisoft and wanted to get the point cloud into 3DsMax 2015. 3DsMax only reads rcp files which Agisoft dont export to. So my work around to solve this is to export the dense cloud from agisoft in las or txt files and import them into Autodesk Recap.

From Recap I save my file to rcp format and import the cloud in 3DsMax, all good so far..but after working with the file in 3dsMax and import the mesh in agisoft I notice that some where on the way the scale and rotations are completely off and doesn't match up any more!

I havent figured out if it's Agisoft doing something with scale and rotation when exporting the dense cloud to las and txt files or, more likely, recap that mess things up when importing the cloud.

Is there anyone here that can help me solve this issue or if you know any other way or software to get my files in to 3DsMax rcp format??

General / How do you know you got a good sparse point cloud??
« on: March 31, 2015, 07:05:15 PM »
Hi!
I have problem understanding how to read, what to read, how to know that you got a good and optimized sparse point cloud.
If I right click a chunk and get show info, I get Effective Overlap: 3.67156 and Reprojection error: 0.221619 (1.04192 max)

What does this tell me, how do I know when I got a good value? Is this the info that tells me this or should I look somewhere else?

Next question: When I use Gradual Selection, Reprojection error how does this correspond together with the values in my show info window? Do they even?

Lets say I the reprojection error level to 0.5 and delete those points am I supposed to use the Optimize Camera function Alignment after deleted? Should all pre selected tick boxes be checked?

Please help me understand this once and for all :)

Downloaded the latest version of PS but now my license/activation isn't working? Never had this problem before when upgrading.

Is network processing only available in the pro version?

How does licensing work, do I need an PS license for each computer that will be in the farm?

General / Re: Texture/Count
« on: December 10, 2014, 01:05:07 AM »
Hello, regarding texture count, I have a bit of a problem, especially on objects with smaller details where the UV's gets really small. I used the texture count option and generated the 2 textures at 16k. But the only thing I got was the first atlas looking pretty much the same as it did before using the texture count and the second one was more or less empty with just some smaller chunks in it..Is there any way to get Agisoft to better use it's texture space in cases like this?

Is this the Nvidias latest drivers problem? Or has it been fixed in the latest version of Photoscan?

Hi mwillis, have you done it? Was thinking of how to do it in meshlab, can you transfer the point color data to a low resolution uv'ed mesh, like you would in 3dsmax or maya when baking textures?
