fabberlounge, can you please explain the workflow you are using with Agisoft and Recap? Do you generate point cloud in Agisoft and generate mesh in Recap. When you say Recap are you talking about autodesks Recap 360 for making model out of photos or their software called Recap for point cloud editing?

Hi Alexey, sorry for the late response! How do I send you my project files, if still needed?

Meanwhile I send some pictures showing what my problem is. I havent tried with the latest build 1812, maybe it solves the problem?

The first attachment is made with version 1632 and high settings for both point cloud and mesh generation. Not so much problematic noise in this mesh. Can easily be smoothed out in zbrush.

Attachment no 2, made with version 1795. Same settings as before. Mesh generation setting at medium. So much hard noise and lots of these "tubes" shapes, like bridges between triangles.

So, the question. Am I using wrong settings in 1795 or has something changed in Agisoft?

I've been experiencing the same problems. In older version of Agisoft it feelt much more forgiving compared to the latest one. Cant say if it's me doing something wrong when capturing stuff or if I'm using wierd settings in Agisoft, maybe both :) but my older scans wore not this noisy as they are now.

General / Spikes and wavy patterns in my scans
« on: January 15, 2014, 12:13:42 AM »
On my latest scans I got a lot of spikes and these wavy patterns in my meshes. So I guess this is a basic questions for many of you. I have a scene made out of like 170 photos, been trying to capture a section of rocks/cliffs. To get as much detail as possible I have taking a lot of overlapping pictures in close range. Started sideways, left to right, and in between tilted and rotated camera to get details in all angles.

I've done similar before but not getting so much noisy result as I'm getting now,  so, am I doing something against all rules of Agisoft workflow? Is it a setting issue? Tried medium and high settings when genrating point cloud medium smooths thing out a little better but looses a lot of details.

Tried cleaning in Zbrush but have too much of this "tube" shapes so cant smooth them out good enough.

lecaramel, do you know if pixologic will add paint on texture support in zbrush so you can paint on a lowpoly mesh using it's UV as a base, the same way as Mari or Mudbox? Or do you know a way of doing it in zbrush today without painting on vertex color?

Ok cool, thanks David Cockey and cbnewham.

David, do you remember how much difference in calculation time was it between the 20, 40 and 80k settings?

Can someone please explain to me what this Point limit within advanced in the Align Photos window does. Will I get a better scan/detail if I change it to 80000?

Maybe a stupid question...
Alexey, when you say supported in the latest release are you talking about the 1.0 (beta) release or the ordinary release?

Maybe they used this program? http://www.tandent.com/lightbrush/

I've been playing around at work with a demo version and I must say it does a pretty good job. The price is a bit heavy though. Think it's around $ 800 for a single seat. I've tried it on some textures generated from PS and even if these were 8bits it did a good job removing shadows. According to Tandent, Lightbrush makes best result with raw files.

General / Exr 32bit in and out?
« on: December 16, 2013, 03:51:03 PM »
Hi everyone! Been searching the forum before I post this, found some information but I still need some confirmation about using raw/exr 32bit files in Agisoft for texture creation.

If I use 32bit raw files converted to exr. Pipe them into Agisoft and after generating my mesh I build texture, will that texture still be 32bit or have Agisoft converted them to 8bit during it's mesh process?

Cheers!
