Wow, this sounds like a really cool project. Can you share the images and the XYZ coordinates of the targets?

I am willing to donate some time to try to generate a good model. I do airborne-based imagery all the time but water is a very exciting new medium.

The simple answer is you don't have sufficiently spaced control points. This is a very large site and the distance between points 2 and 4 is over 600 meters. You need to establish a grid across the site and  have targets that are used first a control points (triangles) and points that are initially used a just check points. Do a first adjustment where you fix the triangles only, and see how the circles are predicted and fit in agisoft.. then further move to fix those points. I think the data looks good, the control just needs more points to really "tie" down  the site.

I'll review and be in touch privately. Your request for nondisclosure will be respected.

I need the pics. Can you provide a Dropbox link? PM me the link or just post here. If not I can provide a directory for upload.

Would you be willing to share the data? As a professional surveyor, we use this same technique every day to perform the same type of projects and would be willing to try our hand at it.

Get more accurate positioning in the uav or add real ground control. There's no other solution.

Great response n@sk.

What I've typically done is uncheck the camera positions all together, because often even 10m is an overly optimistic accuracy estimation when you're using the platforms built in (non-corrected) GPS.

Honestly, even if you have PPK on board and expect 2-3cm accuracy at antenna phase center, you should increase that accuracy estimate, perhaps to 10cm. The latency of the image capture and GPS logging, the velocity of the UAV, the quality of GPS receiver (single or dual frequency), even the plumbness of the GPS antenna over the sensor.. there are many factors at play here. You cannot assume that the GPS's best case results are real world results, over-estimating the accuracy will cause the bundle adjustment to warp your results. Be realistic and give the software room to compute!

We use it with DATEM. Newer vbersions (7.5+) have a UAS Project type that allows you to import the Agisoft project directly.. it is quite easy. The only challenges are stupid things, like need a TIFF format instead of JPG images, minor.. more of a hassle than anything.

Use a DTM for rectification, not a DSM.

Also have a look at this:

Just FYI, Septentrio does not make cheap GPS. The board in that demonstration is likely a $5k+. I own one and it is NOT user friendly at all and their support SUCKS.

If I have high-accuracy positioning on the camera locations (via on-board PPK GNSS) is it ok to do a low-quality alignment? Is it ok to assume the XYZ positions of the images are very accurate so the rotations do not require high accuracy alignment?

I will often do this manually when adding photos to a project. I simply set my windows explorer window to a ICON view, and then manually adjust the width of the file explorer window so that only 3 icons appear in each row. Then I drag and select one column of images, as depicted below. No need for a fancy separate software.

General / Multiple cameras of the same type, one camera calibration?
« on: March 08, 2018, 06:54:24 PM »
I am very interested in building a custom rig using multiple action cameras (Sony RX0). I will be firing the cameras at the same time, my question is how does Agisoft handle the different lens calibrations? Does Agisoft recognize the different cameras and compute a separate calibration parameter, or are cameras with the same lens all get combined?
thanks,

4D mapper looks like an insanely unrealistic business model.

I'm interested in learning more, do you have an example you've published online jetdog?
