Feature Requests / Slicer
« on: June 25, 2014, 11:29:09 AM »
Sometimes it is difficult to manually select "flying" points because points in the "background" will be selected as well. So it would be nice to be have a slicer which allows you to temporarily cut away (hide) certain parts of your point cloud (or mesh) to make it easier to choose the points I want.

Right now I am zooming and turning the model around (and around and around) until there are no points "behind" the ones I want to select. Sometimes this is really difficult / cumbersome, especially with more complex geometries.

Feature Requests / Automatic tiling based on available RAM
« on: June 23, 2014, 12:28:29 PM »
We know that PhotoScan is quite hungry for RAM, which makes processing of larger projects as well as higher quality processing quite cumbersome on "normal" computers. Therefore, it would be great if Photoscan could automatically split the project into smaller pieces based on the available RAM.

This would allow to process bigger projects without investing thousands of *insert your currency here* in hardware. It would also be much easier than manually generating smaller chunks in a large project and at the end merging them, which people are doing right now as a workaround.

Feature Requests / Export video / animation
« on: May 26, 2014, 04:18:35 AM »
Hi Agisoft Team,

It would be great to be able to generate a simple video / animation of the textured 3D model. I was thinking about a similar solution as used in Google Sketchup and other software packages.

Here's the workflow:
1) The user can save several views of the model (e.g. one from the left side, one from the top)
2) Select and align the views you want to animate in a simple timeline. Adjust the duration of each clip and the time for the transition from one view to the next one.
3) Add simple text / caption at the bottom (optional)
4) Choose and adjust background color or texture
4) Export animation / video (several file formats and resolution presets)
5) ENJOY YOUR AWESOME ANIMATION  8) ::)

If someone would like to add special effects, he can always use a more advanced software package (e.g. blender, Adobe AE, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, etc.), but I guess a lot of people just want to have a small animation of their 3D models they can use to share online or for presentations.

Thanks a lot ... and keep up the great work.

Cheers
Stefan
