Feature Requests / mesh interpolation
« on: April 30, 2015, 11:56:22 PM »
Hi

I am working with  2D objects (leaves of plants). Often I would like to use some interpolation when constructing the mesh, however the default interpolation results in a large border around each leaf, so that the area is much more than the real one.

I would find very helpful to have a parameter that defines the amount of interpolation. So that we can have  intermediates between "no interpolation" and "defaut interpolation".

I would be interested also to know about alternative methods to solve this?

Bug Reports / issues with align chunk
« on: April 07, 2015, 09:23:50 AM »
Hello
An issue has appeared with "align chunk"

When I align several chunks now each of the aligned chunk contains the point cloud of the whole dataset.
So it seems as align does as align+merge

General / select photo by point(s) or by selection
« on: March 10, 2015, 11:28:01 PM »
Hi

If I select a number of points in the point cloud, I get different results if I ask "select photos by points" or "select photos by selection".  however I do not understand what is the difference.

Also : I do not undertsand how to  use the "select photo by point" (without s) feature.

Can you explain ?

Thanks

Bug Reports / thin tie points let much more points than asked
« on: March 07, 2015, 05:43:11 PM »
Hello

When I use the "thin tie point" function, I notice that it results in approximately 10 time more tie point left  than asked.
For instance, asking to thin a 1000 000  point sparse cloud  to 50 000 would let 450 000 points in the sparse cloud .

Feature Requests / infos on markers
« on: January 21, 2015, 12:12:02 PM »
Hi
Thanks for the the useful improvments found in 1.1 version.
Amongst other new features, It is useful to have the "info" panel  on markers, that gives the positionning error of a marker for each image. I use it quite a lot.

I have two related suggestions :
-In the panel that gives the list of cameras and associated errors  for a marker, it would be nice if right-click on a camera name would open the corresponding image.  This would allow to go faster when checking a marker on a number of images.
- It would be nice if we would find in the info panel of the cameras a similar information, that is the list of markers present on the images , with the associated error.  So when a camera appears badly positionned, the user can easily see which markers should be checked.

Hello

when optiimizing the cameras parameters, I usually adjust parameter k4.
I think it would be good that once one asked this for one chunk, the option for this fitting would stay to "on" for the chunk . As it is, it returns to "off" so that we have to put it on again at each new fit.

Bug Reports / model shown with a null size
« on: November 04, 2014, 12:40:59 AM »
Hello

This is with version 1.04:
I got approx 200 cameras aligned and a sparse dense cloud of 2000000 points.
But I cannot see the sparse point cloud on the screen.

I can see the flags for the markers. They all superpose on the screen.
It looks as the visualisation is calculated for an observer at an infinite distance  and so the  model is represented with a size null.

General / decrasing the number of tie points : how is it done ?
« on: November 04, 2014, 12:21:57 AM »
Hello
In the 1.1 version, there is now a tool to reduce the size of the sparce point cloud
("demarrier les points unitives" in the french version).

There was already the  "gradual slection"  to suppress outliers.  But I do not see how the new tool proceed.
can you explan the rule used to chose the tie points that are eliminated by this tool and in which case is it useful ?

General / what are "points unitives" in 1.1 release
« on: October 26, 2014, 04:40:51 PM »
Hello

I photoscan 1.1 I find the new term "point unitive" (in the french version) this is for instance in the option for spare clous point generation and in the tool for the dense cloud.

Can you explain what it means ?

Thanks

General / image correction useful ?
« on: October 25, 2014, 05:26:50 PM »
Hello Agisoft team

I use Nikon camera with standard nikon lenses (24mm or 35mm, fixed focal lenses) to take images.
Softwares as Nikon Capture or Dxomark allow correcting for lense distorsion. Would you recommend to use these corrections before using photos in Agisoft or rather work with the uncorrected images ?

Could you comment also for other options such as image sharpness improvment and noise reduction ?

Thanks

Feature Requests / helping to identfy mispositionned markers
« on: October 25, 2014, 04:23:29 PM »
I frequently  mark points  on the images  to improve camera alignment. Doing that some mispositionning happen and it is  a long process, when a marker has a high rmse,  to go through all photos looking for positionning errors.

It would be great  that in the photo panel and/or on each photo we can see by the colour of the marker the distance between the actual position of the marker and the expected position (given the position of the marker on other aligned photos).

That is the green colour that is used low would change to orange or red if the marker is likely mispositioned on a photo.

Feature Requests / exort ortho_image using point cloud
« on: April 13, 2014, 02:02:21 PM »
Hello

Is it possible to export ortho images computed from the point cloud instead of the mesh ?

building high resolution  textures  usually fails  with my computer and  images from vH points cloud would be sufficient.

General / calculating area of a plant
« on: April 06, 2014, 12:17:50 AM »
I build 3d models of plants, from which I would like to calculate, for instance, the cumulated area of leaves.

Is leaf area  precisely given by the cumulated area of the triangles that represent a leaf ?
For instance, a leaf is very thin, but I am not sure wether both sides of a leaf are represented by a same triangle or could it be that they are sometime different triangles for each side of a leaf ?

thanks ....

Bug Reports / interpolation results in an incomplete mesh
« on: April 05, 2014, 11:40:26 PM »
Hello

I repeteadly obtain incomplete meshes when using interpolation (defaut) compared to no interpolation.
This is whatever the number of cameras or the visual quality of the point cloud.
I am working with plants, meaning thin objects (leaves)

I attached two captures showing meshes built from the same point cloud; only difference is enabling or not interpolation.

Any hint ?
thx

Hello

After having build a point cloud, I exported the camera (positions) and calibration.
Now I build another chunk with the same images (a subset of them).  I  import cameras position and calibration. I do not re-align cameras because I want to use the imported positions.

But photoscan cannot build the dense point cloud in these conditions. What is wrong ?
Thx
