Feature Requests / Estimate Photo Quality Multi-node Network Processing
« on: January 28, 2021, 05:46:17 AM »
We have tons of photos that need to Estimate Photo Quality.
With the latest version, Metashape is still processing Analyze Photos operations with Single node even when we are using Network Mode.
This is very inefficient as this task can easily be sent to multiple nodes for parallel processing.
This is one of the major bottle necks of Metashape network mode.

Attached is the log file I got using 5700XT and Latest Metashape and Radeon Driver

I am using latest version of both Driver and Metashape.
I still see the same  ( no SPIR support) issue in the log.
The dense cloud generation process can proceed for an hour and it was stuck at around 20% and cannot progress anymore.

General / AMD 5700XT support ( no SPIR support)
« on: July 17, 2019, 05:07:13 PM »
When I run my project, I see this:

AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT (gfx1010): no SPIR support

Will it affect the performance or results of the project?

Hi Alexey,
I will remove the nvidia driver later and try again, now when I try to run Generate Dense Cloud, I see this error:
I do not know if it will affect the results or not. I let it continue and time to finish is 2 hours, let's see~

Bug Reports / cudaGetDeviceCount failed: unknown error (30)
« on: July 15, 2019, 03:52:34 PM »
I am using Windows 10 with Radeon VII GPU
When I do Align Photos, I see a strange message:cudaGetDeviceCount failed: unknown error (30)
It is an AMD card, how come it will generate a cuda error? There is no nvidia card in the computer.

I have used nvidia cards on this computer with nvidia drivers installed, but Agisoft still should not pop this error as I have no cards in the computer now.

Thank you, so I can extend a lot of virtual memory using a fast SSD in order to get rid of the "bad allocation" issue right?

General / Bad Allocation, Should I continue?
« on: July 03, 2019, 10:09:10 AM »
I have a project running network mode.
The server has 256GB ram and it is fully used now 256GB/256GB
Project status is 88% in building Dense Cloud at this moment

It just fired a "Bad Allocation" message but the node and server seem can continue to progress.

Will there be any damages to the dense cloud if I continue the process?
SHould I terminate or let it continue? It still has 10 hours to wait if I continue, if I know it will fail finally I will stop processing now

Thank you

Now Estimate Image Quality function do not spread tasks to multiple nodes, it just runs on the one node, which is not efficient.

I used Network mode to build Dense Cloud, I read this message in Network Monitor:
[17:01:20] unknown error (30) at line 33

What is this? This error is not attached to a node, but attached to the project in the upper pane

I tried to register for Cloud Processing but I meet a problem in the register page.

I checked the "I agree with User's agreement" checkbox

I used Chrome and Internet Explorer, both of them shows the message asking me to agree although I have already checked the box.

I can do it with Microsoft Edge ^_^

I seems to be still encountering this problem in 1.4.4
When I enabled Refine Marker Projections based on image content, after I dragged some Blue Flags and turn it green, suddenly Photoscan will refresh the image selection pane and remove most of the Green Flags.

1. I used network mode to process project. The Project has 1000 images with GPS tag. Using latest V1.4.4. 6848
2. The first alignment worked OK, both worker machines can read images from the network drive and process accordingly.
3. But I am not satisfied with the results.
4. Then I do this:
i. RIght click on  "Tie Points" at the Workspace pane.
ii. Click "Delete Tie Points"
5. Restart the Align Photos process by clicking Align Photos.

Then I see this:

2018-10-01 18:29:57 [192.168.1.124:54740] finished #9 MatchPhotos
2018-10-01 18:29:59 [192.168.1.124:54740] finished #9 MatchPhotos.initialize (1/1)

2018-10-01 18:30:27 [192.168.1.124:54740] finished #9 MatchPhotos.detect (1/62)

If I continue the process till the end, it will yield a Sparse Cloud with 9 tie points only.

If I also delete the Key Points, results are exactly the same.

The only way I can use Network mode again to get through Align Photo is to recreate a new project.

I can use standalone mode to do Align Photo if this error pop out, but it will still yield a Sparse Cloud with 9 tie points only.

So there will be no way to recover this project after this error.

I am using 1.4.3 Build6529
I got this error in a network processed job.
I have 2 computers in this setup.

accuracy = Highest, preselection = none, keypoint limit = 50000, tiepoint limit = 7000, apply masks = 0, filter tie points = 0

Job cannot pass through alignment stage and got stuck at 98% Matching Photos

Bug Reports / Cannot save Batch Process Parameters
« on: January 20, 2018, 01:46:49 AM »
Version 1.4.0 Build 5650

When I use add Align Photos, Build Dense Cloud, Build DEM in batch process dialog box and press "Save"
The xml generated do not contain any parameters that I set in the Batch process dialog box.

Example when you try to set projection of DEM to be WGS84, it will not save all the paramters into the xml.
Like: <param name="projection" value=""/>   it is alwasy empty.

In my test, only "Export Orthomosaic" function can save the parameters that I set in the dialog box to the xml.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<batchjobs version="1.2.0" save_project="1">
  <job name="AlignPhotos" target="all">
    <param name="downscale" value="0"/>
  </job>
  <job name="BuildDenseCloud" target="all"/>
  <job name="BuildDem" target="all">
    <param name="projection" value=""/>
  </job>
  <job name="BuildOrthomosaic" target="all">
    <param name="cull_faces" value="1"/>
    <param name="ortho_surface" value=""/>
    <param name="projection" value=""/>
  </job>
  <job name="ExportOrthomosaic" target="all">
    <param name="image_format" value=""/>
    <param name="path" value="//192.168.1.177/fastraid/speedtest.tif"/>
    <param name="projection" value=""/>

    <param name="tile_height" value="4096"/>
    <param name="tile_width" value="4096"/>
    <param name="write_kml" value="1"/>
  </job>
</batchjobs>
