I did not find in the documentation if there is a recommended minimum overlap between chunks, is there?

General / thermal single channel
« on: November 05, 2019, 05:34:59 AM »
I searched the forum and to my astonishment, I could not find any precedent to my question.
I mosaiced successfully thermal .tif files, which I believe were a single channel. But for some reason when I export an ortho, I gent a tif file that has three channels. Is there a way to export only one channel (the first)? Also, is there away to check how many channels does Metashape see?

General / Cloud Processing - Error: Host requires authentication
« on: September 28, 2019, 03:29:19 PM »
Hello,
I was excited to try the built-in cloud processing.  All looked good,  upload began and then a few hours later when I checked the status there was the following error; 'Host Error requires authentication'

2019-09-28 01:33:53 Error: Host requires authentication

I did see there is a similar post from about a month ago with no visible solution.   By the way, my Metashape version is the newest 1.5.5

When looking into the https://account.agisoft.com/projects, I can see the project taking about 23 GB, and on the right, there is a grey button for -new.
Attached is the processing log

thanks for the help

Hello,
I have been using Photoscan for years and then Metashape when it came out, I am no novice. But today I witnessed certain behaviors I cannot explain.
In one machine I had Metashape 1.5.0 I processed thermal data (.tif)  form an XT2, with aircraft flying two passes (out and back with the right overlap) and it worked well.
Today I got a colleague of mine to purchase a new Metashape license, she downloaded the 1.5.3, tried processing the same data and it had significant alignment problems. Eventually, I noticed that "Adaptive camera model fitting" was not selected in advance during the alignment process. I was hoping that would resolve it, it helped but she was not able to align her model like I could with my (1.5.0). To prove the license version was not the problem I upgraded to 1.5.3, and then I started to have similar problems of data, not aligning. Assuming that nothing has changed in the alignment algorithm between versions deep in the Metashape code, then my only explanation is that I could see that certain default parameters are different between version (this is just an idea).

On another computer, I have 1.5.1 but I am also having problems during the aligning step.

Mosaicing thermal data with only two passes is a challenge, but I did process that data with 1.5.0 from two different directories and the result was consistently excellent.
1. is there a way to (downgrade)  my 1.5.3 to the 1.5.0 (I wish I have not upgraded).
2. Are there any initial parameters that changed between these versions?
I think I was able to eliminate that the number of tie points, or limit tie points was an issue.

3. the 1.5.3 also complains about  "zero resolution" - I had no problem processing with the 1.5.0. I am 100% confident that overlap both forward-track and sidetrack are right, and I have processed the data successfully with 1.5.0 so I am clueless what is going on.
thanks for your help

General / What governs possible projections to be exported?
« on: February 22, 2019, 09:05:22 AM »
Hello,
I cannot understand why I cannot export the file to projected UTM. I can export to Lat Long, Projected Albers, but not UTM. For some reason with a different data set, I can export to UTM. Both data sets were processed with lat-long coordinates.

Hello Photoscan support,
Photoscan produces stunning mosaics and DEM from significant overlap in the along-track and cross-track. I would like to map a road as a linear feature, so one path over 10 miles of road- so without any other parallel passes.  I am not interested in the DEM but only on at the Orthomosaic.  Has anyone done that? Are there any specific instructions on what to consider in terms of flight parameters, and later suggested steps for processing?

thanks

Hello Agisoft team,
this is the first time in year on working with camera imagery I came across a peculiar situation. It seems various OS (Windows, Linux) and so as Photoscan cannot retrieve the focal length from the EXIF header.  Digging in with Python and Exiftools, I can confirm that the focal length is indeed there, it is 8mm and it is the same number for both EXIF:LFocalLength and Compositefocallength35mm- which obviously one of them is wrong.

Link to file samples-https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1NIRAniwCVq_dMUal4s2zEhOPlmD5xWsj?usp=sharing

Please advise me if I am doing something wrong, is it is a corrupted image.
thanks

General / masking the sky using background photos
« on: June 24, 2018, 06:58:14 AM »
Hello, Agisoft support,
I am trying to model a cliff from a collection of pictures that have some sky in the background.  I cannot figure out how to mask the sky when mosaicking a cliff.  Chapter 6 in the manual, specifies instructions. Particular how to import the masks. But is the step to import masks is also when creating them!? Step 3 in the manual,  "3. When generating masks from separate or background images, the folder selection dialog will appear.  Browse to the folder containing corresponding images and select it."

I have a few questions about step 3:
1. From the manual step 3 in the quotes, what is the difference between separate and background images? Isn't the background image, a separate image that only has sky or using one of the images with a sky as a reference to classify all other images?
The next sets of questions are regarding the Import Masks, see attached (import_mask_tool.png):
2.  In Method:  From Background,  is that from a not yet imported picture that only has a background, if yes, then one file should be applied to all images, no!?
3. Most confusing is the Filename template, I understand what it is,  if I  am importing matching mask for each image, but I am in the process of creating masks for all the cameras.

Maybe my confusion is I am trying to use the Import Mask to generate masks from a background, either picture that only has a background, or pictures that have some background and already imported.

I am so confused.

Hello Photoscan forum,
I am new to 3D printing. When exporting my landscape (Lat/Lon WGS84)  about 1x1 km^2, model from Photoscan as an obj file, is the size preserved? I imported the model into Autodesk Meshmixer and I am asked to choose a unit, so I guess the scale is not imported!?
Thanks

General / Agisoft supported video fromats
« on: February 24, 2018, 01:20:18 AM »
Hello Agisoft,
what video formats does Photoscan support? I have a .MOV video from a DJI aircraft, and from what I can tell, Photscan cannot read the video. Thoughts?

General / Restarting from scratch
« on: February 15, 2018, 06:23:30 AM »
After completing processing imagery all the way up to making the mesh, if I want to change a few parameters and start all over again, if I just start the picture alignment, I think Photoscan will use the previous model and not start from scratch. If so, how do you start without the previous model? I know I have read it in the manual, but I cannot figureout where I saw it. Thanks

General / Importing DEM to improve geomtry accuracy
« on: February 13, 2018, 01:25:09 AM »
Not sure how long has Photoscan has the ability to import a DEM to improve geometry accuracy, but while reviewing the 1.4 manual, I discovered it this  option and I am very excited to explore its utility.

Yet, apart from mentioning the capability in a few words on page IV, I did not find further information in chapter 4,  Referencing and Camera Calibration.  Nevertheless, I did try to import an old lidar DEM .tif file, and aligned the pictures, but off the bat it does not seem the reference DEM was accounted for when inspecting the sparse point cloud. What am I missing?
It would be nice to know the limitations, of importing a reference DEM to the final model. For example, if a reference DEM has much coarser resolution, and not necessarily includes all the features capture from SfM.
Thanks

General / smoothing flight lines
« on: November 22, 2017, 05:38:42 AM »
Hello Agisoft community,
The flight lines or transects are apparent in the orthomosaics, despite to not seem to impact the DEM.
Attached is an example of my concern, four somewhat-vertical transacts are apparent in the the mosaic.
Are there any recommendations in how to smooth/obliterate/erase the flight lines in the scene?

Thanks in advance

Bug Reports / Problems building texture: Missing images!?
« on: April 17, 2017, 10:28:47 PM »
Hello,
After completing the mesh step, I tried to build texture next, and to my surprise I got the following message: "Some images are either missing or were resized."- When expanding the error window message, it seems that the file paths are shorter than what it should be. For example the errors message is looking for a picture at E:\100_1\DSC01332.JPG , but folder 100_1 should be part of a much larger address that is missing.  Is there any way to edit the file path or folder path? Has anyone come about this problem before?
Thanks for the help!

Bug Reports / Photo scan logfile
« on: May 01, 2016, 09:31:19 PM »
Hello,
I would like to report a problem that causes Photoscan on my computer to Not Respond when working with a particular project. Where is the Photo Scan logfile stored?
Thanks
