General / Looking for open/free viewing software for DEM/geotiff

Some end users does not have tools to view/do measurement on geotiff/DEM
can you please suggest open/free software that can view, and preferably do some basic measurements on data processed by Photoscan Pro (in any suitable format)?   - preferably multiplatform.

I am aware of the Agisoft viewer, it does great job viewing 3D .tls models but what if user needs to see it as orthophoto/meassure ?

General / Photoscan 1.2.0 workflow question (it just take longer time, more steps ?)

In current release version:
After creating dense pointcload, mesh  - I just go to export , and I am able to export til .las , dem, ortho.  ech step takes time..

with 1.2.0
After creating dense pointcload, mesh   .. I cannot export anything,
.NEW:.need to go to workflow and create dem and ortho (two longer prodcesses)- save psx,  (also longer)
only then can I export to ortho,dem,las ..

The new steps does seem to me to be extra steps, taking more time, I do not understand why I need to do them ?

Actually - I can open a psz project using 1.6.x , then just export
The same project opened in 1.2.0 requires the extra new steps, before export.

Please explain what is going on, and why it's needed.

I see that 1.2 has:
-Added support for orthomosaic export in Google Map tiles,
-World Wind
-MBTiles

-How can Google Map tiles be used ? - what to do to make the map spawn over standard google map ?
- more or less same question for the other two

General / What is the best way of presenting data to customer (tools for geotif/models)?

.kmz has a size limit that makes it unsuitable  for larger areas.
.geotiff is great for orthophoto/DEM , but beside QGIS , (which loads/shows the .tifs slowly when panned/zoomed and redraws whole area each time.
- the internal viewer is great for visualizing models.

Is there an better /more versatile toolset ?  /must be multiplatform.

General / KMZ , Orthophoto export problems , Orthophoto export problems..

I have got various results exporting to KMZ:
several renderings stopped at ~450MB .kmz 
Another problem I've seen is google earth telling me that the (full path)model.dae  (inside thge .kmz) Error:Could not load file"

Then I succeeded in exporting one at 3.3GB , but google Earth says it's empty.

Likewise, I've seen "not enough memory" when exporting to  geoTIFF,   - yet less than half of the memory were used during the processing before the error, and no swap.

and when exporting OrthoPhoto to jpg , I get just "Can't export orthophoto"
Exporting to tiles (.tls) - works fine.
The area is about 6kmx500m , but reducing it (selecting a smaller region) to much less does not seem to help.

General / RAM vs SWAP - can the job be done of you have enough swap

If a given job requires 64GB of RAM , can it be processes by 64GB RAM  , or 32GB RAM+ 32GB SWAP partition  , or even 16GB RAM +48GB swap ?

Sure, the SSD swap will work much slower than RAM, but how far can this be stretched ?  - what if I would stitch lots of pictures that ,in theory, would require ~1TB or RAM ?

General / Force stiching of areas with less overlap. An idea, or is it possible ?

ok, so I've got areas with maybe 20% forward overlap (plenty sideways) that do not want to stitch, because terrain elevation made groundspeed too high.

Is there a way of forcing those to stich ?
I would imagine it should help to manually set markers - without absolute positions, in all photos in such area, just to "tell" the software what points are to be stitched, - I can recognize a few of the same features in the outer end of a picture - while software may not..   but how can I make software use that knowledge ?

General / Problems with changing altitude.

imagine a pattern that is many km long, , but over a section over few km, one end elevation is 150mAMSL , the other end is 550mAMSL , while usual AGL is always around 150..200m.  - the plane few a calculated climb/descend rate, so the climb/descend is evenly distributed over this distance.
AMSL elevation is in EXIF.

Still - even there is plenty of overlap, there are sections it does not stitch, - why ?
What can be done to make it work ?

General / Marker elevation different in DEM file. - what can cause this ?

I am stuck at a project.
Markers are added with precise elevation, And all good ones are enabled(checkbox next to marker)
They match photos just fine, but when I export a geotif, all elevations are off by several meters.
Even a marker point is 29.076m instead of 35.835 meter.  (this goes for all markers.)

first picture shows the "open dataset" dialog
second picture is the dialog after anything is clicked/selected in it (it becomes visually ok)  - but does not display any files.
third picture is what happends when I attempt to select anything else than "photoscan tiles"

Viewer 0.3.0 build 1995 64bit  , Ubuntu 14.10
In the main application, file dialogs and selection boxes work fine.

Bug Reports / Unable re re-read Exif.

I am testing precision difference (in the DEM) between two GPS sources.
After rendering with one gps, I change the picture source to another folder, that contain the same pictures, but with other GPS data.

When I click "import ground control from exif" - nothing happens. previously imported data remain.

General / OpenCL on Ubuntu 14.04 x64 (GPU does not show up in list)

Using Nvidia proprietary "331-update"  drivers on GF110 [GeForce GTX 570]
nvidia-lobopencl1-33-updates is installed (its installed by default, providing OpenCL driver and ICD Loader.)
- still, Photoscan does not offer to use any GPU.  (no GPU listed)
