hi super_saffer,

gpu backplate: not necesary
liquid cooling: not necesary
CPU: search a high cpu clock and more cores, like a i7 4930k
RAM: ddr3 is cheaper (64gb ddr3=$500 vs 64gb ddr4=$700) , so use a ddr3 platform and you can spend more in the cpu

Sample source images and screengrabs of problems would help identify where your problems are.

Is not a source problem, the lack of a mosaic editor where you can define seamlines is the problem.

thanks alexey!
i hope will be soon, many clients complain about the artefacts around the buildings on the orthophoto (due to the orthorectification), so i'm forced to use pix4d only for the seamline capabilities (specially the planar proyection option for a seamline).

Hi Deronm,

1) Your flight plan don't look very well, do it like a grid with a high overlap (80%-60%)
2) The uav-terrain distance obviusly  is not equal to uav-tower, so take extra photos with a higher elevation of the tower
3) take a look on this site, specially on the "Large Vertical Objects reconstruction": https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/202557459
4) sorry for my english :p

you can't... you need a GIS software.

General / Re: system out of memory , what can i do?
« on: March 11, 2015, 09:12:07 PM »
you can export the dense cloud and build the mesh in another software, then import the created mesh to PhotoScan.
Weird anyway... 21 million isn't a biiig mesh...
The mac can't use the hard disk like virtual memory?

hi vitor,
like aletopo says, use MILD filter for the dense cloud, also, in geometry quality set  custom: 500.000.000 (the geometry will be more detailed)

I did a quick test (with modified pictures, more contrast and less bright) on the free version of pix4d on  rapid check mode, and the dense cloud is very similar....i wonder how pix4d can rescue the cables...i tried on PhotoScan with high dense cloud quality and mild filter without luck.

Hi Diego,
What software do you use?  the results doesn't  look like a PhotoScan output

me too, is very annoying, but with the cameras positions before alignment. Closing and opening PhotoScan solved it.

Anyway, like mwittnebel says, with 290X the heat is a very big problem. In my job we have 2 290x and without a proper airflow both gpu reach 96ÂșC or more, and PhotoScan will crash, so...

nvidia 980 or amd 290x

the use of GCP is a recomendation, is not the source of the problem.
