General / Anyone else having new issues with DJI Phantom images?
« on: October 14, 2020, 08:37:09 AM »
Just recently having issues processing DJI Phantom 4 images, not just me but other work colleague's using their own Phantom 4's as well.

Just the last few jobs, never had these problems before, using same app DJI GS Pro

Issues have been

Some photo's not aligning
camera positions and tie points offset
ortho's out by 40m plus
what seems to be double runs of photos captured?

Have been able to get a final product out by trying different combinations of the following

removing double camera runs
reset and re-align
optimise cameras
change camera accuracy
don't use any camera reference data
use GCP's
reset then re-align all cameras again

Since we didn't have any of these issues before and have not changed our capture or process method, wondering if its a DJI issue?

Regards
John

Hi, sorry for the delay.
Can see GPU load 76% while generating depth maps (see s3b.jpg)  ;D

Thankyou

I have similar issue, CPU 100% but duel RTX 2080 Supers 5% and 1% during GPU processes?
Read similar posts, everything activated, using GPU-Z etc

version 1.6.4 build 10928

Using our Phantom 4 Pro we typically fly 120m above ground.

If its an open canopy and not to dense we can get away with 80 forward 60 side overlap.
If its closed canopy we fly 80/80 even 90/90 for Karri Regrowth SW Western Australia.
And yes try to fly on calm days/no wind

Hi, would also like to use orientation data to improve referencing.
Currently using Hasselblad camera and OXTS RT-3042 IMU.

Would be good to hear about different results.

Here's an android option, works in conjunction with DJI Ultimate Flight App

Great Post and info, appreciate it.
I was wondering how to display aerial Thermals in Agisoft.

We are using Flir imagery for two purposes, one for tracking feral pigs and the other for identifying hot spots along forest fire containment lines.
Will try these suggestions this week.

Thankyou

Had another go with some new imagery at 10cm GSD, quite happy with the results and no holes in Dense Cloud.
Previous Images processed were 17cm GSD, less GCP's and less image overlap.

Processed at High/Aggressive, ran out of memory when trying Ultra High.

Hi,
just wondering if there has been any clarification or improvements on creating detailed Point cloud with no holes?
Using Version 1.1.6 build 2038

Been experimenting and I also have had best results with Aggressive depth filtering and medium or low Quality
Tie Points set to 10000, GCP's only accurate to 2m.
I did try No depth filtering, you get everything, not yet tried cleaning it up yet.

General / Re: Agisoft Vs Competitors
« on: December 11, 2015, 03:25:13 PM »
Hi, just went through the process of trialing/considering different products.
Considered Agisoft, PIX4D, Imagine Photogrammetry, Inpho, Imagine UAV and a few others

We fly forest areas for harvest tracking, Silviculture, forest age class/species/stocking/height mapping and other.
At the moment we use a Hasselblad H4D-60 mounted in a Cessna 172, having timing issues between camera and GPS/IMU so processing images with only GCP's at the moment. Control comes from out sourced Ortho's at 2m accuracy.

Our goal was to produce ortho mosaics and view imagery in SAFA(Stereo Analyst for ArcGIS)
Now looking at use of point cloud data for Forest height inventory.

We have been very satisfied with the results from Agisoft and Alexey has been very helpful.

Hi Steven, thanks for the advice.
Yes we have other data both ortho mosaic and vector to compare and outputs seem good.
Was interested to see what other users had experienced.
Impressed at the easy work flow.

General / Re: Ortho mosaic, Image artefacts on joins/overlaps
« on: October 30, 2015, 04:50:37 AM »
Email from Agisoft support, thankyou.

Dear John,

According to the report file the overlap between the images is quite low and it may cause alignment issues that results in the dense cloud and mesh generation artifacts, and therefore will affect the final orthomosaic.
Actually, you can see that the lines of low overlap are visible on the last page of the report.
The recommended values of the overlap are 80% of forward overlap and 60% of side overlap.

Additionally, the problems may be related to the large polygons in the model, if quite low face count is parameter is specified.

Best regards,
Agisoft Team.

General / Ortho mosaic, Image artefacts on joins/overlaps
« on: October 29, 2015, 08:59:28 AM »
Hi, I have just trialled Agisoft and created a number of ortho mosaics.
On some of the mosaics I have these image artefacts, seem to be on joins/overlaps.

Other mosaics seem perfect, seamless, all processed the same way?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I found the following topic, perhaps this is related, my trial version has ended.
http://www.agisoft.com/forum/index.php?topic=2778.0
(The real solution is to ground classify your dense point cloud and use a mesh from the ground points when generating your orthomosaic)

John
