General / Re: PhotoScan 1.4.0 Online 3D Data Delivery
« on: November 28, 2017, 08:09:25 PM »
Where do we go to ask questions specific about 4DMapper?
I've uploaded a couple of test projects to evaluate and some things are not completely intuitive.

Thanks,
Doug

Thanks for the detailed response.  I don't think I've seen such a long .prj file contents.   :)

Now, I just have to figure out how to make use of it.

General / Datum selection & conversion
« on: November 17, 2017, 07:33:13 AM »
I used to do everything in WGS84, but now working with survey companies, I have to deliver orthos and DEMs in one of the following datums (depending on project location):

Horizontal Datums used:
2916 (or 2275)  NAD83(HARN) - Texas North, US Survey Ft
2917 (or 2276)  NAD83(HARN) - Texas North Central, US Survey Ft
2918 (or 2277)  NAD83(HARN) - Texas Central, US Survey Ft
2919 (or 2278)  NAD83(HARN) - Texas South Central, US Survey Ft
2920 (or 2279)  NAD83(HARN) - Texas South, US Survey Ft

Vertical Datum
5703 NADV88

My GCPs and CPs are recorded in the above datums, whereas my photos are geotagged in WGS84.  My plan is to convert the photo geotags to match GCPs.  I then would not have to do any transformations later.

I'm a little, or lot, confused on the conversion feature in Photoscan.  When converting, one must know and set the source and target datums.  Which is which in Photoscan?  I can see the datum in Reference Settings and a datum in the Convert Reference screen.  If photo geotags are WGS84 and I want to convert to one of the above datums, what do I set these to?

Next…
I see the 5 horizontal datums as options.  I also see NAD83+NAVD88 (5498) and NAD83(2011)+NAVD88 (6349).  Is it possible to combine NAVD88 with the above horizontal datums? If so, how do you do this?

Alternative solution:
Use NOAA Vdatum program to convert photo geotags.  Though this would not address the datum assignment in Photoscan.

Thanks,
Doug

General / Re: Is it possible to 'overwrite' mesh?
« on: November 16, 2017, 09:30:28 PM »
I build a low face count mesh and then generate the orthomosaic based on this mesh.  I think this gives you fewer seamlines in the ortho, thus fewer opportunities for visual mismatches.

Does the Spark have a fisheye lens?
If so, go to Tools and change camera from Frame to Fisheye and see if that helps.

If you want to use the CSF filter (cloth simulation filter), you need to first select your point cloud in the DB tree on the left hand side in CloudCompare.

This was the step I was missing.  Thanks!

Now I just have to figure out which parameters give me the best results.

Thanks,
Doug

Anyone exporting their dense point cloud to load into CloudCompare & qCSF plugin?  I was wanting to use CloudCompare & qCSF to do the point cloud classification.  I'm not having much luck.

Which format do you export your dense cloud?

For the formats I can get to load into Cloudcompare, the qCSF icon is always grayed out and not selectable.

Thanks,
Doug

This is the output after starting agisoft from the command line version of the command.  This DOES work.  I must not have edited the windows shortcut version correctly.

Just for an additional data point.  I'm seeing same issue on 1 of 2 different PCs running Win 10.  Primary machine has the issue and is a MSI GS63VR with GeForce 1060 with latest drivers.  MSI has Nahimic.  The other is a new Dell Precision desktop and it is working correctly.  Dell has Nvidia Quattro M2000 (no Nahimic).

Everything is fine in Model, but menu options disappear for Ortho and Photos.  Note, I can use the mouse scroll wheel.  You have to scroll wheel, then change to Model, then change back to Photo or Ortho and then you see the zoom change.

I'm running 1.3.4 Build 5067 on both machines.

I tried the opengl angle workaround and it is not working on MSI.

General / Photos with different geotag accuracies - answered
« on: August 14, 2017, 05:42:39 AM »
I flew 20 missions to cover 8,000 acres.  Each mission generated 450-600 photos.  I won't bore you with the details of why, but 6 of the 20 were geotagged with PPK accuracy (5-10 cm), while the remaining group of 14 are in the range of 3-5 m accuracy.

I have GCPs measured to 1-2 cm accuracy.

What camera accuracy setting should I use?

Thanks,
Doug

For Ardupilot/Pixhawk based flight controllers, I use Mission Planner.

I have a Pro license installed on a cloud VM (Azure).  So, I can deactivate the license on the VM and then activate it on my laptop and vice versa?

Is there a limit to the numbers of times I can move it back and forth between the two?

The VM is paid for by the hour, so it is not always running and not all historical projects are stored on VM.  I would like to run PS on laptop to give ability to view projects and use in field if needed.

Thanks,
Doug

General / Re: Azure NC24 & Nvidia K80 not working with Photoscan
« on: June 13, 2017, 07:58:30 PM »
The dense point cloud is complete after 13h 25min.  I actually thought it might go a little faster than that, but I'm happy with it and I'm very glad PS is able to handle the ~10k photos at once (no chunks).

I thought the console used to show how fast the GPUs processed data.  I don't see that info.  I do see where it shows a breakdown by percentage of how each card was used (24-25% per card).

As you stated, the NC24 is set up for for "GPU computing" not "GPU visualization".  I found this:
https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/azure-n-series-general-availability-on-december-1/ that explains the basic differences, but how these differences apply here are over my head.

Do you think the GPU visualization (NV) setup would perform better than the GPU computing (NC) setup?

Thanks,
Doug

General / Re: Geotagging photo's on non-GPS Camera
« on: June 13, 2017, 07:18:39 AM »
I've used both Mission Planner and Geosetter to geotag images from non-GPS cameras.

I don't know exactly how they are doing it, but Event38 is using the Reach Emlid with the Sony QX-1 as a PPK solution.  The Pixhawk tells the camera to take the photo based on distance and the Reach logs the when and where the photo is actually taken based on a hot shoe type connection to camera.  RTKpost is used to generate a file with the coordinates for each photo that can be loaded into PS (not directly geotagging the images).  This workflow is easier, faster, and more accurate than MP or Geosetter.
