General / Working with Chunks or not?
« on: March 15, 2017, 11:36:09 AM »
Dear all

I'm working on an area mapping of about 1 square kilometer with about 8-10 single flights. Should I place the picture of each flight in a single chunk and create 8-10 chunks or put all the 6000 pictures into one single chunk? Whats best to deal with it?

Thanks for helping

General / Model UpSide Down after setting GCP
« on: December 11, 2016, 06:26:25 PM »
I have made a map survey using WGS84 photos, wich worked well.

Now I have imported GCP as cvs file with markers in Gauss-Kruger zone 3

all the pictures have been unselected, all markers are selected, and I did an optimisation.

After that the model is upside down, meaning the camera positions are now under the ground level....

Is that normal or what went wrong?

General / Agisoft not responding
« on: December 11, 2016, 11:42:12 AM »
Im wondering. Im processing a drone survey of about 4 acres with 180 images. The alignment has been done and I did high quality dense cloud with 91 Million points.

I have also done the mesh (5 Millions) & texture (4096 x 8) but the 3D model is extremely slow in changing the view... I need now to do the gcp but can't becouse on each moving of the model I get always Agisoft (not repsonding)

When I try to open an Agisoft menu, I get (not responding) as well for a few secons.

I have already updatet to 1.2.6 version.

PC is a i7-5800K + 128 GB DDR4 RAM

Any solution?

General / Volume calculation
« on: November 01, 2016, 08:03:02 PM »
Im wondering how you do your volume calculation for big scale drone surveys...

There are 2 options....

1. do a volume calculation by cropping the 3d vertices to the part you need
http://www.agisoft.com/pdf/PS_1.1_Tutorial%20(IL)%20-%20Volume%20measurements.pdf

2. the other is to draw a polygon after you have created your DEM

but I have an issue

I have a hill in my 3d model and want to calculate that volume.

I duplicate my chunch and croped the model to the hill I want. I closed all holes and did volume measurement.

Result 1 is 4350m² & 7487m³

When I use the draw polygon I set the polygon around the hill, Im fine with it. I do the calculation and chose mean leavel that is at 701.5m

Result 2 is 1548m² & 7226m³ above + 155m³ below

I change to Custom level and move it to 700m altitude

Result 3 is 1548m² & 9523m³ above + 0.031m³ below

So why is the difference so hughe? I don't understand exactly this case. Is something wrong with my concept?

Im glad for any help
Thanks

General / Simple Grid or Cross Grid Drone Survey
« on: October 28, 2016, 08:42:49 PM »
Hello guys

Im wondering whats your best Experience in doing drone map surveys... are you flying only simple grids or are you doing cross grids? Do you believe corss grid is giving you better overlapping & better / more accurate details?

Whats your thoughts?

General / Cluster Workflow
« on: September 12, 2016, 12:53:49 PM »
I really like the option for Cluster Computing in Agisoft.... Im wondering if I can use it for faster processing, but have some question.

We have 4 Workstations in our LAN, but only on one we are running Agisoft

1. Intel i7 Hexa-Core, 128 GB RAM, Radeon R390 (Main Agisoft Workstation)
2. Intel i7 Quad-Core, 16 GB RAM, GeForce 670
3. Intel i7 Mobile Quad-Core, 16 GB RAM, GeForce 780GTX Mobile
3. Intel i7 Mobile Quad-Core, 8 GB RAM, GeForce 650M

The Files are synced over NAS to all systems, so each system has the entire data structure on his Hard Disc

Now we have seen that on systems with low RAM Agisoft stops to work due to lack of memory. If using as Cluster system probably the Memory usage will not be so high?

Can we so utilize also the other computer 2+3+4 for Cluster processing?

Would be great
Thanks

General / Optimizing Image Alignment with different flight heihgts
« on: September 03, 2016, 11:48:42 PM »
At moment we have some issues in aligning images from drone surveys when we are flying in low altitudes under 30m, especially when flying over patterns like solar modules on the ground or green gras surfaces.

The reason we are flying so low is to get a higher resolution on ground.

Im wondering if we can do a 2 pass flight.

1st flight pattern at 100m altitude with an entire overview of the whole landscape
2nd flight at 30m of specific landscape parts to get the higher resolution

will this improve the image alignment workflow in Agisoft while keeping the higher ground resolution doe to the low flight images?

Would be glad if you could give me any good feedback on this idea.

Thanks
Igor

General / Exporting Dense Cloud Model as 1m Raster
« on: August 29, 2016, 12:13:53 PM »
Im wondering if I can export the Dense Cloud Model as a ASCII file with only 1 m Raster points... ?

I have created a map survey model with about 15 Mio. Dense Cloud Point, but client can't open and process the file.

Is there any way to export it as a Raster with only one point each sqare meter?

General / How to improve 3D reconstruction process
« on: August 26, 2016, 10:19:05 PM »
Im wondering if you have any idea how we could improve our 3D reconstruction process.

As seen in this example some parts are not clear. what could we do to improve it?

General / Exporting visual DEM with Contours
« on: July 28, 2016, 03:29:07 PM »
Im wondering if there is any simple way to export the visual DEM model insteat of creating a black/white TIF that need to be processed in other GIS tools.

Some clinets just want the visualised DEM as I can see it in Photoscan directly. If I do a screenshot, I have only low res.

Is there any way to export this in higher res?

Camera Calibration / Agisoft Lens to Photoscan
« on: July 24, 2016, 05:41:28 PM »
Is there any way to export the Lens calibration of Agisoft Lens so that Agisoft Photoscan can use the calibration & distortion informations to optimize the alignment?

I don't understand why Photoscan canno open the .lnz file....

How can I calibrate a camera directly in Photoscan when I don't have access to the calculated errors from Agisoft lens?

General / Hardware for Agisoft
« on: July 24, 2016, 04:25:34 PM »
Im checking out the possibilities to do a PC upgrade for Agisoft & Autodesk Civil 3D

My idea is

Intel Core i7-5820K Hexa-Core
8x8GB DDR4 Kit (total 64GB)
Radeon R390 8GB GPU

Does it make sense to go for 128 GB of RAM or is it better to have a second Radeon R390 8 GB GPU installed? Are AMD Radeon Multi GPUs supportet in Agisoft, since all reccomandations are only talking about NVIDIA GPUs? How is the performance impact? What are your suggests?

Should the pictures all be on a SSD or is a SSHD good enough?

General / Massive Artefacts in Orthofoto & 3D model export
« on: July 23, 2016, 04:18:31 PM »
Especially when we do processing of aerial survey over buildings and trees I have a lot of artefacts on exporting the Orthofotos...

building lines not clear, roofs very bumpy, solar panels not clear....

on average mode I have strong blending, while in mosaic I have holes...

How can I optimize this errors?
Thanks

General / Export to 3D viewer
« on: July 12, 2016, 10:44:50 PM »
I have seen that with the Demo Installation I have a Viewer included to open some kind of Agisoft files.

For UAV projects are there other ways to export files to other 3D viewer for the client, withouth the need of install programs or tools on their systems?

I would like to have a simple 3d model with the possibility to switch from textured to point cloud view

Thanks for helping.

General / AMD Radeon OpenCL
« on: July 12, 2016, 09:13:41 PM »
I have created my first model in photoscan Demo, I have activated the Radeon R390 with its Hawaii 40 Cores under the OpenCL settings and reduced the active CPU cores from 8 to six.

When I perform calculations like building the dense cloud unfortunately I don't see any load on the GPU

Are AMD Radeon GPUs used by Photoscan?

Thanks for helping
