@TXPE have you ever tried Global Mappers photogrammetry processor (pixels to points) ?

General / Scale Bar control
« on: July 31, 2020, 04:49:30 PM »
Hi guys,  Is there a way to control the parameters of the viewer scale bars in Metashape? By default, they just show some random dimension.  How are they controlled?

Thanks!

Right-click on your DSM and select "capture".

Looks like it was added to 1.6.0 in November 2019.

Bastiaan,  Filtering the cloud by confidence is nice.  But how do you then generate other products that display only the filtered cloud? I don't see that as an option when generating a Mesh, for example.  One way would be to classify the filtered points to a unique classification  and use only that, but maybe there is a better way?

Feature Requests / Shape Report; Respect user-set properties
« on: July 19, 2020, 05:30:20 AM »
When selecting stockpiles on a DEM with a polygon, I can specify it's name/label.  However, if I generate a report of those polygons (shapes), the report does not list the names I specified.  Shouldn't the report use the properties specified by the user, else what's the point?

In addition, I would like the report to be able to use the DEM with Hillshade applied.  Whatever I have on display is what I want to print to file.

Feature Requests / Selection mode vs Navigation mode ; Change cursor
« on: July 19, 2020, 05:25:49 AM »
When switching between these 2 modes, I think it would be beneficial if the cursor changed.  For example, a crosshatch when in selection mode and a hand when in navigation mode. When working back and forth, it would be much easier to always know which mode is active rather than looking up at the toolbar.

You can get reasonably good results using Microsoft ICE (free) although they will not be geo-referenced, and will have more non-nadar elements.

Orthomosaic creation is not listed as a feature of the standard version.

It's interesting that this issue seems significant to processing with Metashape, especially from the perspective of those that have been using it for awhile.  Yet there is little reaction.  It seems like a lot of data was supplied to demonstrate the issue, yet the developer goes silent.  I'm new to this, but that is not encouraging unless most users haven't noticed this problem and just don't bother to comment or it was fixed already?

"I'd suggest you to try several flights with fixed WB (not necessarily RAW). It may improve overall color situation under constant light conditions.  "

+1

I use a P4P to capture for topography and not vegetation. But I always use a fixed WB, generally Sunny, even when clouds are passing through during capture.  Having a uniform balance between all images seems to lead to better results.

General / Re: Measure Volume - Units
« on: July 17, 2020, 05:21:36 PM »
Thanks James.  I've added it to the feature requests.  It's perplexing that there are such sophisticated tools and programming in Metashape yet such basic stuff as this and rudimentary control of annotation is lacking.

Feature Requests / Measurment Unit Choice
« on: July 17, 2020, 05:17:05 PM »
Need the ability to specify UNITS for measurements.  For example, volume measurements are typically reported in cubic yards or cubic meters.  There should be a preference for this exclusive of which CRS unit is specified.

This is really very basic stuff.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply, James.

I've attached a screenshot of what I find in that settings panel.  There is not way to set a specific unit for volumes (for example).
My coordinate system is US survey feet.  But volumes are typically reported in cubic yards or meters.
Am I missing a dialog box where this can be changed?
