I too would like to know if this can be ran in agisoft, and if so how, are there any instructions anywhere ?

The "cloth" method seems like a fantastic tool for determining bare earth points.  However, Agisoft doesn't seem too interested for reasons they have not mentioned.  But it has been asked for.

General / Re: Average Camera Location Error

So, MS creates tie points (the sparse cloud) and based upon that and the specifications of the particular camera, MS determines a location from where the image was captured without consideration of where the camera says it was taken. And then compares those 2 locations and that is the reported error, correct?

How does the weighting of the accuracy metric of the cameras play into that calculation?

Perhaps @ksunglieng is asking about the mechanism for how MS comes up with it's figures rather than identifying the figures?  In other words, WHY does MS say a camera position is more or less "accurate".

Hey Matt, I don't have an answer, but I question the practicality of trying to specifically dial in spacial error of less than a centimeter.  If something is that critical, point clouds are not there yet.  Use your total station.

Feature Requests / Re: Calculate volume from min height from shape
« on: March 27, 2023, 04:30:57 AM »
Hi Alexey,

I don't want to interfere with this request but I have a related feature request.  For work in material stockpile estimates, we commonly have piles that abut other piles or banks or walls of some sort.  The options in MS don't give us any options to deal with these problems.

Currently we move the project to Global mapper where we can specify the elevation value at each vertex in order to shape the base plane based upon conditions.  In MS, the program already knows the calculated elevation value at each vertex, but there is no means to adjust or edit those values to modify the base plane.

The ability to do that in MS is my feature request.

Thank you!
Dave

General / Re: Techniques to clean your point cloud in Metashape

Does anyone remove some photos via estimate image quality and pull out any below X value?

This is viable, yes.  But my images have generally all met my threshold, so I have mostly stopped checking them. But I am very conservative with flight speed in order to not have motion blurring, which seems to be the biggest culprit for poor images in uas image sets,  if there is one.

General / Re: Filtering tiepoints after dense cloud?

Hi Jake,

There is no mechanism to modify the creation parameters of a dense cloud that I am aware of.  If you modify any of the factors that went into its generation, you would need to re-process it I think.

You could export a point file instead of a raster DEM.

Depending on the nature of the project, I wouldn't waste your time with this tool in it's current condition.  It will detect targets, and miss others. It will give you many more false hits than actual hits.  The colors of the targets are not critical.  They just need to be contrasted in the expected shape.

For example, on this project there were 3 actual markers.  The tool was set to it's most restrictive tolorance and residual, (1,1), and the tool found 2 of the 3 targets and found 5 non-targets.

Maybe if the tool was shown an example of a target in the dialog box, then it could be more effective. Perhaps, if it was looking for blue pixels as in my targets, it could more easily eliminate outliers.

General / Re: Import Orthomosaic

Great, thanks for the explanation, Alexey!  I was opening a new workspace and trying to import without saving the workspace first.

Thanks for the reply, Alexey.  I'm sorry, I don't know what is meant by PSX format.  I don't see anything in the export dialog or file type relating to PSX.  And Google just says PSX is a file generated by Sony PlayStation.

So, typical geo.tiff files generated by Metashape and the other main stream processors can not be imported into MS?

Thanks!

General / Import Orthomosaic *SOLVED*
« on: January 16, 2023, 02:41:13 AM »
Is Metashape capable of importing an orthomosaic geo.tif ?  The command is in the file menu, but if I export an ortho (in wgs84) out of MS and try and import that same file, (or any other ortho I've tried), I get an error "Empty Frame Path".

Thanks!

I skip adjusting the point in photos where it is not clear.  If you are not getting at least 4 or 5  good clear alignments you might need to adjust where or how you are laying out your control.

General / Load camera calibration from XMP

A P4RTK has data in the XMP.  Shouldn't it be loaded into Metashape workspace if the preference is checked?
