Hello,

Things you can try.

Do your flyover on a thin overcast day with minimal shadowing. Shadows compound the complex nature of vegetation.
Fly on a day with no wind if you can.
Slow down - ground smear may not be a problem unless the limbs are also moving.
Also, remember that your overlap settings are at take off height and will be less on tall structures and trees. So if you want 85% at tree tops you will need more than 85 at the ground.

The Capture View is a nice option, but unfortunately no scaling control is offered. Unless you just want a screen resolution copy the feature is sort of useless.  This has been mentioned before but Agisoft must not consider it important as nothing has changed.  Control over annotation of any kind in the application is very weak.  You get what you get. You could add your voices to a feature request to have vector objects tied to an actual formatting toolkit.

A workaround is to move the data to QGIS or something else where you have some control.

I can't speak to ArcCatalog, but typical workflow in MS for us is to import and align cameras (images) and then to convert from WGS84 to the CRS used for the GCPs.  Then, bring in the GCPs.

Tools > Dense Cloud > Select points by Color > Delete will not work for your case?

What was your overlap settings and how tall are the buildings?  As you suspect, tall objects do not get as much overlap as the surface.  Also, homogenious surface like grass, trees and roofing material require even more overlap.

Take a look at "dense cloud confidence".  Lower confidence results from not enough overlap.

If your model's elevation is coming from  GCPs, then whatever datum was used for the GCPs will dictate the elevation of the model.  You would un-check the cameras (uas images) before running the Optimize Cameras command.

Many basemaps are using orthmetric elevation which is based upon a geoid. WGS84 is based on ellipsoid and in the San Antonio area, the web says that generally, the geoid height is approximately 23 m below the ellipsoid. That looks close to your stated discrepancy.

For any homogeneous surface topography, you probably want to use 80/80 overlaps at a minimum.

Paulo,

Perfect.  Thank you, I missed that.   :-[

Hi Alexey,

Can I please get a comment on why MS rounds coordinate precision to 6 decimal places which isn't actually very precise?  If I double click on a coordinate, it does show higher precision, so I am assuming it is actually using that precision.
But, if I export the markers, the precision is lost.

Hi Alexey,

Do all legacy scripts that work with 1.7.X need amended to work with 1.8.X  ?

EDIT: Disregard. I see that the scripts in the GIT repository have already been amended.

Hey there Ladyminesurveyor,

I'm assuming a non-RTK/PPK workflow?

Have you checked out this basic workflow?

Just select the accuracy field in the Reference Pane of the Marker you want to edit.

Lowering the # will give it a higher weight compared to the others and making the # larger will give it a lower weight.

After you edit, select Optimize Cameras to apply the weight change.

Hi Ben,

Hopefully someone will respond than knows for certain whether or not that "shift" can be done in MS.  I know others are doing the "shift" in other software.

Hi Alexey,

Thanks for the reply. Any idea where I could find an online resource to determine those offsets?

Best regards,
Dave
