General / Re: M30T & M3E Questions
« on: November 02, 2023, 09:46:01 PM »
I can speak for M3E which I have.
It is almost perfect for mapping. I say almost because I would like it to have a little bit better camera.
It fly's for about 45min on one battery but in real conditions I'd say for 30-35min.
It has real-time terrain follow and it works above 30m AGL. It can also import custom DEM easily.
The RTK can work with their base station or via NTRIP. If you have emlid M2 or the RS2/3 you can output the corrections locally with gps's hotspot or other local network so no internet is needed.
Pilot 2 is very good planning app but it has some bugs that DJI fixes very slowly.
Overall I am happy with the M3E.

General / Re: P4RTK and Evo2 RTK - Dealing with mrk files.
« on: January 08, 2022, 01:00:20 PM »
On these drones, precise camera positions are written to a text file (.mrk)
Unfortunately, the coordinates are not written cleanly with a header, but rather with text added to each value.
For example, an image will have the coordinate values "36.0138568743,Lat   -115.2255755428,Lon   794.088,Ellh".

How are others converting this to a .csv to import as a camera reference file into MS?  It is easy enough to delete or exclude columns in the .mrk file that are not needed.  But how to remove the text at the end of each coordinate value, e.g. ".Lat" without doing it one by one.   Perhaps it can be done with a python script?
Sample file attached.

Thank you!
Dave
You can use notepad++ or other notepad app to replace (Ctrl+H) the ,Lat with no character. You do the same with the other ,Lon ,Ellh
It is a very easy if I understand correctly.
See the attachment if this is what you need.

General / Re: Best Laptop for Metashape?
« on: July 02, 2020, 07:05:54 PM »
Don't buy laptop for Metashape. It will throttle for sure.
Gaming laptops haven't addressed the heat issues yet.
I talk from experience. I bought a i7-8750h laptop and it is not good for metashape.

General / Re: GPU acceleration during Dense Point cloud generation

Hi, does GPU acceleration work in all 3d mesh generation steps?
I tried to build a 3d model and while the first step (depth maps) was done on GPU, the next step (building model) was not using GPU at all.

Thanks Alexey,
also on CPU would you recommend i9-9900K over i7-9700K?

I think that geoid models are irrelevant to the processing time. Something may be wrong with the pc configuration.

General / RAM recommendation for Metashape 1.6
« on: February 10, 2020, 11:55:34 AM »
Hi guys,
now that the Metashape is out-of-core how much RAM is recommended?
32GB DDR4 RAM is enough for projects up to 2K (20mpx) photos to process arbitary 3d model from depth maps in High quality?
I am looking for a new pc and don't know if by adding 64GB RAM makes sense.
Thanks in advance.

General / Re: About GPU tab in Preferences
« on: January 28, 2020, 02:31:40 PM »
The answer is, if the GPU is powerfull enough you should disable the CPU flag. If the GPU is weak the CPU should be enabled.
In my case I tested the latest 1.6 version in demo mode with laptop i7-8750H and GTX 1050 4GB.
The build arbitary model of 50 photos 20mpx took 1,5 hours to complete with GPU only and the same test with CPU enabled took only 20 minutes!
So you should test it in your configuration to see which is better.

For the budget oriented, do you think that the RTX 2060 6GB is the minimum recommended?
I also want to upgrade but I am between the RTX 2060 and the GTX 1660 Ti 6GB.
Does VRAM play major role in performance and if so in what parts? Is 6GB enough for up to 2000 20Mpx photos (DJI P4P)?

Alexey,
what memory requirements will have the new version with out-of-core processing?
Will 32GB be enough for arbitary 3d mesh from depth maps?

General / Re: Digitizing Breaklines (Polylines) in Dense Pointcloud
« on: August 05, 2019, 07:09:59 PM »
You can try to create a mesh from dense cloud or from depth maps, texture it and then digitize directly on the 3d model. It works better than trying to digitize in the dense point cloud.

Try this https://www.agisoft.com/forum/index.php?topic=7851.0
It is a very good GCP workflow that works.

Maybe you are running on onboard VGA instead of 1080ti?
Check it.
