General / Re: Auto rotate images in portrait orientation?
« on: May 26, 2018, 04:08:23 PM »
having the same issue, but i can't see anything in the exifs concerning a rotation.

once it's done, how can you reset the image rotation ?

I mean, i use DXO to edit my Raws, but the orientation is set to "original", so there isn't even a rotation or an auto rotation applied, yet, photoscan tells me the same message as you .... What can i edit ?

General / Can't merge chunks
« on: May 05, 2018, 12:29:48 PM »
Hello !

Please, i'm a bit new to this "chunks" technic.

i attempted to do a small test with three chunks which overlap a bit, and each with a dense cloud calculated.
I'd like to merge them but it's either generating a merged chunk without dense cloud Inside, or later , not even generating a merged chunk, and telling me "Null color data !" , i don't understand what it means.

Please, What am i doing wrong ?

Thanks !

Thanks very much !! Glad i could find a solution.

This feature should exist in the standard version, really, "split in chunk".

General / chunks - dense cloud - standard version
« on: May 01, 2018, 05:12:57 PM »
Hello !

please, i'm wondering if for a huge scan to process it's possible to manage to get a dense cloud from various "clouds chunks", in the standard edition of photoscan ?

i mean, after i align all the photos, can i use the region box to reduce the area to calculate one portion at a time, so various clouds, and then get all these clouds merged, to later calculate some meshs ?

maybe using the region box on a portion of the scan, calculate the dense cloud Inside this box, then export the dense cloud to save it, then calculate another portion, and again and again till the whole dense cloud is calculated, then reimport all the points saved each time, to have one global dense cloud ?

thank you. i'm affraid i have too many photos, 1024, and it's asking too much to my machine, and i really can't afford the pro edition ( or with a monthly subscription perhaps ). i wish i could find a solution to process this scan smoothly.

General / Re: Calculate points color ? time consuming, necessary ?

Thanks very much Alexey. i understand now.

well, i suppose i don't need to calculate their colors ... For what purpose would i need it actualy ?

i just need to generate a mesh, and later the texture.

i suppose that what will be displayed will simply be the sparse cloud anyway.

I think that in the early stages of calculation, photoscan estimâtes the time for the best, but it varies a lot. This time it started with about 20 days, then reduced down to 1 day and 10 hours. Now it's at 3 days estimated ...

i disabled the filtering and required the ultra high setting, to get the most defined scan. i trust my 8k photos, their definition, and the kind of surface which is all sculpted stone. The whole thing into a soft shadow, so ideal.

i hope it'll go fine, since i've never calculated such huge and long scan before.

1024 x 8k photos, it took 10 hours to align the cameras.

one gtx titan ( early one )

Feature Requests / Region features
« on: April 30, 2018, 07:00:43 PM »
Hello !

i'm starting to think that the region box could benefit from some more features. Simple, but very handy.

For a big scan, i generaly like to calculate the mesh in several parts, and i use the region box to specify the pièces that i want to calculate one at a time. So i pick some points of the box and move them accordingly, but it's not very Advanced.

i'd love to see such feature as some gizmo x,y,z for each of the 8 points of the box, to be sure to drive the points in one specific direction at a time, and not x, y and z in space.
And also, a value for each axis would be great.
maybe even a "lock" feature, to be sure not to move the points later on.

for now, i must be extra careful, or i can lose the position of the box, and it can be terrible since i want all my meshs to be synchronised and having an edge in common. each patch must be next to each other, see what i mean ? like bricks ... that i assemble later in some third party softs, after i project the texture for each mesh.

One more thing : that would be great if calculating the dense cloud was limited by the region box, to avoid some useless calculation.

please, develop such features, that would be fantastic ! And maybe even some ortho / perspective 4 Windows, to work with a scan / model

General / Calculate points color ? time consuming, necessary ?
« on: April 30, 2018, 06:50:48 PM »
Hello !
Please, is there any interest to enable "calculate points color", when building the dense cloud ?
i tested the amount of time estimated and it goes from about 8 days ... with the points colors, to about one day and a half, without "point colors".
I'm thinking that these colors don't matter at all, since the texture will be calculated and projected only later. But i may be wrong ... am i ? What is the purpose of these points color actualy ?
 Thanks !
