Python and Java API / Designate Chunk as active chunk
« on: February 03, 2023, 02:16:11 AM »
Hello,
How to I set a chunk to be the active chunk (ie. bolded) so that when I save the document that chunk is the active chunk when the .psx file is opened manually later on?
I have a script that iterates through a folder opening each .psx document and then aligns and merges chunks and saves the document.  It then does some processing to the merged chunk. But even though the merged chunk is the last chunk I reference  using chunk=chunks[2] (for example) that is not the active chunk when I reopen the file to see the results.
Thank you for help

Has there been any more developments on this issue?  I am having the same issue.  Cisco AMP for Endpoints Connector is attempting to quarantine metashape.exe because it is classifying it as a W32.MAP.Ransomware.rwd.  Only happens on certain projects when I'm attempting to create a mesh from depthmaps.  Happens on one with 388 24mp images with medium depthmap quality and high qualty mesh

can you post some screen shots showing what you get when you align photos? When you say that it fails, how does alignment fail? Only some align? Or to they all align in one location?

I think what is happening is that Metashape is "locking onto" you  background.  you want to have your background as uniform as possible without any features visible and preferably also out of focus.   I use a black background which is at least 40 cm behind my subject.  I adjust my f-stop to give  a good depth of field so the entire object is in focus but the background in out of focus (f16 or higher) and a low ISO 100 or 200.  I then allow my camera to adjust the shutter speed.  I also may adjust the aperture to "stop down" a few thirds of an f-stop if need to get a good uniform background blackness.  Attached is a photo from one of my turntable sessions. You can see how there is nothing visible in the background for the software to lock onto.  The clay and the target are on the lazy Susan and turn with the object.

My other thought is that the leaves are moving slightly from one photo to the next as you turn and so they are never in exactly the same position.

Hope this helps

Everyone,
I am looking to change the background color of the model view using a script.  For instance, it the background is already #999999 I want it to change to #000000 and vice versa.  I want to be able to quickly check the look of my model against a black background, but the switch back to gray for working.
Any help is greatly appreciated

General / Re: Parameterizing Texture Atlas now taking extremely long

Alexey,
I will try.  I have to see if I still have the install files for the earlier version.  Like I mentioned in the post, the increase is only anecdotal.  I was just wondering if anyone felt like they were experiencing the same thing.

General / Parameterizing Texture Atlas now taking extremely long
« on: April 09, 2020, 05:16:40 PM »
Hello,
I'm using Metashape 1.6.1 on a Windows 10 machine and since upgrading to 1.6.1, the parameterizing texture atlas step of build textures seems to take 2-3 times longer than it did in earlier versions.  I haven't timed it to get a specific increase in time, but i have rerun textures on models created with 1.5.x and there is definitely an significant increase in the time to complete this step in the texturing process.
Anyone else encountering similar issues?

General / Finding License Key info
« on: February 25, 2020, 06:04:55 AM »
Is there any way to determine what license key was used to activate Metashape Pro on a particular computer? We have 12 licenses of Pro and I need to determine which key was used on which computer during activation so I can determine which keys have not been used.  Unfortunately, the person installing did not keep accurate records of which keys they used on which machine.
Thanks

General / Metashape 1.6.1 not using GPU for texture blending
« on: February 10, 2020, 07:02:59 PM »
When creating a texture for my model, I am getting the following in the details section:

Found device GeForce GTX 1070 driver version 1640382464, API version: 1.0.65, location 4294967295::4294967295
Found device Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630 driver version 1645260, API version: 1.1.103, location 4294967295::4294967295
Only NVIDIA and AMD devices are currently supported
Cannot use GPU. Reason: Cannot find suitable device
Performing blending on CPU...

Why is it not using the GPU when I have an NVIDIA GeForece GTX 1070 installed and enabled?  It uses it for all the other GPU functions?

Python and Java API / Saving multiple chunks to separate psx files
« on: June 09, 2019, 01:31:40 AM »
Hello,
I often times will create multiple chunks in a single document in order to run batch processing on all the chunks over night. However once the processing is completed I'd like to be able to save out each chunk as its own .psx file with the file name the same as the chunk name using a script. Does anyone have a script already that can do this, or suggest how to create such a script.
I'm fairly new to the Metashape api but have done some programming in Python, visual basic, lisp, and c++
Any help greatly appreciated

Face and Body Scanning / Re: Two-fold alignment in point cloud
« on: August 02, 2018, 11:22:28 PM »
are the points that are mis-aligning all from the same side of the fish?  Can you post a picture "zoomed out" so that it is possible to see the all the camera rectangles?  Also can you post a picture with the dense cloud rotated 180 degrees?
