General / Re: How to use keyboard to rotate model ?
« on: December 03, 2020, 12:42:16 PM »
With the number keys you can jump to predefined views and rotate with increments.
1: side view
3: front view
7: top view

5: toggle between perspective and ortho

4/6: turn left/right
2/8: down/up

9: stereo

works with both the keypad as the top numbers.

if you're looking for a nice visualisation try the animation mode or the agisoft viewer

You can rotate the model, if the option is unavailable you'll probably have some reference data that is being used on which the program bases the orientations.
You can uncheck all references in the reference pane and then press 'update' in order to be able to freely rotate the model.

I'm also thinking that 64GB of RAM might be serious chokepoint when you're working with ±360GB of pictures, no?  ???

It's been a while since I've done some thermal ortho's, but we used to take .tiff images, and put a raster transformation on it with the raster calculator.

So the single input band (B1) is transformed in the raster calculator with "B1*0.04-273" as a base, then we would take measurements from flir tools and adjust the offset accordingly.

As I said, it's been a while since I've done this, but hopefully this gets you a little further.

Have you tried generating a mesh from depth maps en then generate he ortho based on the mesh as opposed to the pointc cloud?

Have you tried resetting the coordinate system?

General / Refine markers based on image content. Where did it go?
« on: January 16, 2019, 03:05:47 PM »
I loved the above mentioned option (refine markers based on image content), as it was really helpful in placing my GCP markers

The option seems to have disappeared in metashape, is it being done automatically now?

makes total sense! And also, my assumptions for measuring the volume of a mound on a slope hold true. ::)

Thank you for the reply Alexey! I hope I'm not annoying you with all my questions lately  :-X

So uh, can the devs at least confirm that this is the way agisoft measures the volumes?

Ok, shortcuts it is then for now!

It would be nice though to be able to customize the toolbar somewhat in the future.

Also; when exporting shape profiles from metashape it doesn't include the values anymore as it did in photoscan. Is there a way to fix this?

I'm really missing the 'filter by class' button in my toolbar  :'(
I use classes a lot, and being able to quickly filter, without going trough the menu, sped up my workflow by a lot. Can you give me my button back? ::)

(the new automatic classification is pretty nice though ;) )

General / Re: Mesh not build but pont cloud is OK ... ?
« on: January 03, 2019, 10:56:31 AM »
Glad it worked, interpolation will try to 'fill in the blanks', so if you have a lot of little branches etc, it will try connecting them. So if you have enough data in your scan, disabling interpolation will prevent the software from guessing where there may be shapes and only taking what he knows for sure.

hope this clarifies it enough :)

Have your tried disabling the interpolation? (under 'build mesh' > 'advanced' >interpolation

General / Total volume or volume above?
« on: January 02, 2019, 01:24:01 PM »
I am working with volume measurements of heaps of sand, gravel, etc..:

Based on the terrain profile, we estimate an average custom ground level (as often mounds are next to each other, rendering the 'mean level' option useless)

We then use this to calculate the volume; I've always been using the 'volume above', but my colleague uses 'total volume'

I was using the volume above, because I assume that by using a mean level, you cut of some volume below the level of the actual mound, but add that volume by taking the ground below the surface, above the chosen (mean) surface level, hence ignoring the volume below.

To clarify this I made a sketch:
Brown line = mound of which I need to know the volume.
Black line = surface
orange line = 'custom (mean) ground level'
Purple = ground volume
green = volume below

So am I correct to assume that:

'volume above' = purple + volume of brown line above the orange line.

=

volume of the entire mound, above the black surface line (assuming the mean ground level is chosen correctly)

I am still wondering why 'total volume' is then calculated by subtracting the volume below from the volume above.

Thanks in advance

I've been able to stitch a lot of of tiffs ('black ones') together with the workflow from this link:

https://juliageographer.files.wordpress.com/2017/05/agisoft-photoscan-workflow-for-flir-vue-pro-for-blog.pdf

without GCP's or RTK i still manged to get these images
