dear Elizaveta

i sent you the print screen of the workspace pane you requested. It is obvious that imported point cloud is used  as laser scans
The last thing i  tried is to reset  the Laser scan alignment. This way i finally have a relative solution between images and laser scan. Note that i  have only one laser scan in this test project.

best regards

Dear Elizaveta,

all your suggestions regarding the procedure are understood. I apply them exactly as you suggested.

The point cloud used for my test project is in .e57 format and contains, apart from the point cloud, a panoramic image embedded. This file was exported from Z+F software.
Please note that  in the case of another format (.obj), the panoramic image is missing. In this case when align photos the "reset current alignment" option is inactive and cannot be selected. I suspect that the alignment uses the panoramic image for matching with the rest of the frame images.
As for the case of .e57, the result of alignment is wrong. In particular,  the to block of the frame images was not connected on the point cloud . See attached image and log file.
Last, when i save and try to open the project i get "invalid sensor id" message.

best regards

hello everybody

This topic is really helpful.
Can you tell me how can i align images together with laser scans in the case when the laser scans have absolute orientation (from the laser scan software).
Can i reduce the number or even eliminate the need for control points in this case?
Also, during alignment, the choice to "reset current alignment" is not active.

I have to say again than you are doing a great job for us.

best regards

Great work team,

thank you so much for the effort you gave for this.

As soon as i installed it, a started  a new project in this new version (metashape 2.0).

I have a set of images and also a set of scans (aligned in the laser scan software).

So, trying to work with it a lot of questions arrised:

1.first of all can you suggest a general workflow ?
2.when align the photos, how i can be sure that the aligment is locked on the laser scan since the are not aligned together?
3.mesh production seems al lot slower than before. How this procedure considers the laser scans point cloud geometricaly? there a way to allign photo on the imported laser scans?

best regards
