General / Re: Point import very different in processing time...
« on: January 06, 2021, 01:32:17 AM »
I see that the "error" goes back to possibly something else.
I had to create the LAS from multiple LAZ in CloudCompare.

The problem was when I load in multiple point clouds (tiles) in Metahshape and merge them into one, all the classifications are thrown together when I merge.
I will think of something else to do there.

The LAS data are in ETRS89 / UTM zone 32N with "own" vertical coordinate system. (DHHN2016)
30.069.456 Points.

have you ever placed the homepoint somewhere else?

General / Point import very different in processing time...
« on: January 06, 2021, 12:22:15 AM »
Hello.

I have several LAS files here.
If I import them as "Local coordinate system" the import is VERY fast.
Unfortunately, you can`t switch to the "correct" system after import.

If I load the file directly with the correct specification of the system, the import takes longer than average.
So long that it is impractical.

Is there not another way for the import?

...I can confirm that!

I think it's bilinear.
The results are now the same as in my survey program.

Do you import the quality as well?
You can include the position quality via the EXIF data.

General / Interpolation for Geoid GeoTif?
« on: December 18, 2020, 04:37:49 PM »
Hello.

Does anyone know exactly how the Geotiffs are interpolated for the Vertical Elevation Correction?

I have a geotiff for geoid undulation with a resolution of "only" 310*284 pixels.
(It extends over several hundred kilometers).

In my survey program it says that there bilinear is interpolated in between.

How does Metashape interpolate here?

That would be great, yes.
The units change depending on the size of the error.
Sometimes they are meters, or centimeters or millimeters.
This can be "confusing".

Now I have changed a lot in the graphics card drivers.
Energy mode: Adaptive, max - optimal performance and so on.
What to say, now it runs!

My current settings are the same as I started with (with errors) and still it runs, even under OpenCL.

There really is a "node" in the driver settings.

Hello.

Is there a way I can crop a DEM or Orthophoto?
Something like how I can select and delete a point cloud?

I want to delete ugly and unnecessary border areas.

The main/depth_max_gpu_multiplier 1 setting work fine, but the speedimpact is roud about 50%!

This works of course, BUT now a LOT of this appeard in the LOG:

- GPU rectifying failed: clEnqueueWriteBuffer(queue(), buffer, blocking_write, offset, cb, ptr, 0, NULL, NULL): CL_OUT_OF_RESOURCES (-5) at line 345
- using CPU implementation...

I have updated the drivers to 452.57.
Unfortunately the error still occurred.

Now I have set "depth_max_gpu_multiplier" to 1 and it seems to work!

I think there are speed losses now, though?
