Hello! I noticed when I make a shiny object more matte (putting cornstarch onto a shiny object to "create" more texture, my models come out a bit smoother. With it being window frames, I am not sure how well cornstarch would work, but I do know there are some washable matte sprays available. I have never used these myself, so some more research is not a bad idea. Here's a link to one I found when googling "matte spray for photogrammetry": 3D scanning developer spray from 3DChimera, Peel 3D has some for a spray powder (store.peel-3d.com). There are more, these are just the first few I saw.

General / Exporting Scale Bars and Viewing on Different 3D Viewer

Hey everyone,

I scale my models via two points, "create scale bar" and manually entering my measurements. When the model is exported as a .obj, will the scale bars still be present and viewable in a different 3D model viewer? If so, which viewer is the best to functionally use the scale bars to take even more measurements?

If the scale bars do not automatically export with the model, are there other steps I can take to export the scale bars?

For a use case, someone wants to use the model I am working on to take more measurements of the object since they cannot check it out for loan, and can no longer visit in person.

Any advice/tips are truly appreciated!

Hello!

 I have a mouse with a button enabled scroller. I am able to use that button within the scroller as the one to move the image while I am masking without messing up or adding weird points to the mask.

I have seen the same thing. I recommend not cleaning the sparse cloud, I usually jump right to the dense cloud and clean that instead. With the 2.0 version, I have noticed that sometime the cleaning you do in dense cloud will show up in the mesh again, but I have not experimented with it too much to know what settings you need to have to keep it reading the cleaned dense cloud.

Hey everyone!

I had this same problem, also with bat skulls. What works for me is using the 60mm macro lens, and stacking the photos. I was able to get clear photos and successfully made models. The photography process takes much longer (about an hour for each angle you do), but you get good quality models out of it!
